@Blizzard, are you aware that mages are abusing Icy Veins, Mind Quickening Gem, Berserking (Troll Racial), etc. to gain an advantage at picking herbs?
Mana Thistle is already the highest competition herb in TBC so beating someone to a node should be the sole variable in whether or not you get the herb.
It doesn’t seem intentional that these mage abilities or haste in general should affect your node gathering speed.
you must be pretty proud of yourself… Of course that was actually intended. Being able to pick faster using these abilities is an exploit so not only do they need to fix it they need to ban all the accounts doing it.
Not actually sure this is true, seems like a recent forum revelation (which seems to indicate it’s a newly discovered feature) and I don’t remember anyone talking about it in Classic. Either it’s always worked like this and was somehow entirely overlooked by everyone until anniversary…or it’s an anniversary bug. My bet would be on the latter.
Given all that I’ve read I would assume that haste in general increases gathering speed so when it finally becomes available in T6 content we will all get faster gathering speeds, and if this is truly how it should work that means we should have noticed it in Classic as well, but no one was talking about it as far as I remember.
Its been this way forever, but it wasn’t being normalized by players until private servers.
Pserver players remember barackrotus, there was a lotus that spawned in AV and people would make troll mage chars to berserking pick the lotus and afk out
Theyd even skull of impending doom before the gates opened to get the highest haste.
I already reported this in this forum, the bug report forum, and the in-game bug report. Blizzard doesn’t care so I doubt they’ll fix it. Have fun trying to farm Mana Thistle!
Maybe, just seems odd this is the first I’ve ever heard of it and lots of people seem surprised about it as well. Like it really flew under the radar…maybe just cause mana thistle wasn’t that contested in classic. Like I herb/alch farmed all TBC and I could reasonably farm mana thistle when I wanted to.
I think this is it more than anything. For whatever reason the name of the game has changed for gold farming. It might just be because of only a few servers the competition is that more fierce and maybe even banned GDKP means they’ve gone outside of raids more.
As someone who was on mankrik for most of TBC I farmed my own herbs and did fine. I haven’t really tried to farm herbs yet (need epic flight) but I can pick up most herbs fine, however I can see how heavily farmed thistle is.
I don’t think people come across meeting someone at a node at the same time as a troll mage who skulled into berserking to out pick them too often at all if ever
I remember when everyone wanted classic “warts and all” and now this time around everything is a problem. Its 100% a different playerbase and anyone who played then and now can easily tell
It just doesn’t happen lol. The odds are nearly non existent. Even if it happens to someone once I don’t even understand why it would upset them enough to warrant forum posts and bug reports
Clearly you don’t farm herbs. Especially high-demand herbs like mana thistle. Go ahead, fly up above shatt and tell me how many troll mages you see. Happens to me all the time.
Blizz’s official word on this in the past has been that there should not be any way to hasten node picks, but, I also don’t expect them to bend over backwards to fix this if it’s going to take them away from about 100 other things I’d rather see addressed.
Coming into a thread and saying “The odds are nearly non existent.” screams you love the sound of your own voice. Log off and touch grass bro. You’re a full on hypocrite.
