Every single class can open locked chests.

In fact with smithing, you get a lot more out of the profession beyond the ability to pick locks, you get every single other bell and whistle. Lockpicking for a rogue is a one trick pony, yet it has to be skilled up just like herbalism, skinning and mining.
PS: Reported your thread as spam as there is already a thread on the subject. You know that.
I actually do that, or at least ask if there are any other miners/herbalists in the group and we rotate. Also when I’m playing a skinner I’ll rotate with other skinners. Unless the group is moving quickly then I just skip skinning during the run entirely. I guess they key here is to communicate with your groups.
You should be providing your utility to a group if you want a good reputation on the server. Feels free to do you but don’t complain when selfish bad behavior won’t get you invites. Changes are the chest has nothing that useful so i would open it if I was a rogue
So then once we get Prayer of Fortitude should I start charging the group for the Sacred Candles needed?
Should a Druid charge you for reagents every time they revive you?
Should a Warlock charge you for soul shards?
The Rogue isn’t “giving up” the chest because the chest doesn’t belong to them. Not to mention that Blacksmiths can open those locks too, but the Rogues who act entitled to the chest never ask about them,
No minersherb would not be the proper analogy as those are professions.
Lockpicking is not a profession.
There is no proper analogy other than group utility, imo, and that is unique to rogues (save keys/charges). If a group member isnt helping the group and being selfish then bye, dps are dime a dozen. I wont be tanking for you.
Lock picking is a profession, unique to rogues. A rogue does not have to level up lock picking. They have to choose to pursue it, just like professions.
This all happened back when classic was current content.
This isn’t a black or white issue and it all comes down to the group. If the rogue wants to put it up for a roll great, but at best the rogue is just going to wait til everyone leaves and open the chest, and at worst you get to hold up a dungeon run over a chest. So you have to weigh that out.
Giving out food and water helps speed up dungeon runs, so its in everyone’s interest to pass those out as they don’t take long to make. If you want to wait for the healer and tank to fill up their hp and mana with natural regen then that’s your prerogative, but its going to be slow going.
