Mage Tower

I know that there has been several discussions about this…

I’ve been trying ever since Legion for the Mage Tower. I’ve been successful for the most part DURING Legion. They brought is back then they took it away. And now that it’s here again, I’ve just been trying to grind hour after hour and nothing I do seems to get me any further. I’ve tried switching up my talent trees, switching to completely different toons, trinkets, etc and nothing is working. I understand the Mage Tower is SUPPOSED to be difficult and that’s why I keep trying. But one single hit from the npcs and it’s a complete wipe. Trying currently Thwarting the Twins on my mage and I just think the mage tmog set looks sick. Always usually get to the second phase, but no matter how many Ice Novas or Cone of Colds or Ring of Frosts I use, the adds always seem to catch up. I’ve read up on forums, and even watched videos of other player’s builds and I’ve tried it all. I just don’t know what else to do. I’ve tried slow damage, burst damage and anything in between What helped for y’all?

I took the easy route and just shamelessly copied what someone on YouTube said to do. Still took me like 100+ tries, but I got it done for druid.

When in doubt. Make a mage tower set. Sockets/enchants are your friends.

I was struggling with mine. 3 pieces of legion gear with socketed vers gems helped me get the last 30% of mine.

The first few phases are usually a cake walk, but last phase is a different story. I feel damage in these is always lacking. Can’t burst the adds fast enough. Can’t break xyz fast enough. And when it’s all happening at once, its beyond easy to get behind.

Trial and error, talent swap. See what works FOR YOU and what doesn’t.

Most of my guides for bm said barrage was trash. I tried barrage. Oh look the adds are dying way faster.
Tbh I don’t know what the guides say for frost, but I’d probably try comet storm if you aren’t. Nice burst damage and vulnerability for adds.

It varied a lot from class to class and spec to spec. Having the right gear setup pre-Tomb of Sargeras was pivotal, as certain legendary effects could absolutely make or break the fights.

I would focus on figuring out which mechanic is the one that’s killing you and focus on getting the muscle memory or macros to best deal with it. IIRC DBM developed plugins for mage tower now, and having timers can help out a lot.

Just stick with it - you got this! :+1:

So the mage tower scales all your gear down to ilvl 120.

So you need gear that is at least ilvl 120 or you would be losing stats in there.

Siege of Orgrimmar drops gear from ilvl 122 to 127 (from normal to heroic to mythic).

You can use any gear you get in Siege of Orgrimmar, so you can run it in normal heroic and mythic in one week and likely get a full set of gear from there.

The gear in Siege of Orgrimmar usually has at least one gem slot if not two or three. Plus they have meta gem helms.

If you are doing mage tower as a mage you will want to use the “Burning Shadowspirit diamond” or any other meta gem that gives you “+ intellect and +3% critical damage”.

Then fill all your other gem slots with +4 or +6 intellect (depends on how much gold you wanna spend).

Then you can only put shadowlands enchants on all your items.

Use the shadowlands weapon enchant “Celestial Guidance” and then any other shadowlands enchants that benefit your character. I believe there is +15 intellect to bracers.

If you get a full set of siege gear and fully gem and enchant it, you will be doing so much dmg that it becomes quite easy.

Also buy an intellect flask, food buff (Boralus Blood Sausage is 12 intellect and it’s the best you’ll get), buy some legion augment runes for like 8 more intellect, get dps potions to use and also buy drums.

If you do all that, you’ll have it down in no time

I tried twins on mage, warlock and priest and it did not go so well. Done it on my hunter and it was easy mode. If you are struggling now then I hate to say it to you, but you are just not good enough to do it on the class you are using.

I done guardian during SL when it was super hard and got it done, did not do more than that because of how long that took me to do, but I finished the achievement when it came back in DF using classes I know how to play, but also some of them are just faceroll easy.

For example, I am good at monk and was able to get the WW one done in some 20 tries without doing any research, no special equipment or pots, nothing, just a couple of tries and I was done.

On the flip side I done arms in one try, but I never play arms, it was just that easy. I logged in, swapped to arms, imported some talents and finished it no problem.

You just need to get better at your class, or do the fire or arcane mage challenge, you might find those easier.
