Yea, I honestly just couldn’t think of one. Maybe another mount? IDK… .
The only reason I made this post is because the Mage Tower T20 recolors was a big lure point for people to come back to the game to try it out.
If only a small % of the playerbase could complete the Mage Tower due to horrible tuning, that is why I said they should nerf it and give a different reward… OR… as someone else said, keep the Mage Tower up all the time (sort of like a proving grounds).
During Legion, I remember people complained on the forums about DK and hunters having it too easy back then. It was true. I could not get any other toon to complete it but I also did not try that hard. I never cared to. My main is the only one I cared about. The only one I would like to work on the kitty form but then again, its just a transmog. I am seeing soo many people state it took them 250 tries and soo much gold. I don’t understand how that is rewarding, but then im not an elitist with gaming either.
You honestly cannot even compare this Mage Tower to Legion Mage Tower.
Its not even close. In Legion, I had gotten the Guardian one on like, maybe the 10th attempt? And the other 15 specs I did also were not too hard .
This is like 10x harder because of how horrible the tuning is and not having any Legendary power or Artifact bonus passives- which the Mage Tower was originally tuned around.
Its like trying to do the Legion mage tower without your artifact weapon lol
Me personally, I would settle for receiving the Legion appearances as compensation for the nerf. I wish I had done more of them back in Legion. Is this the right call? Not for everyone, so I don’t see this happening as others do have those appearances already. They could maybe make a new set of weapons though.
Maybe for SOME specs… But anyone who thinks this is not harder than Legion are delusional.
Unless my skill just dropped off completely the last 4 years I’ve been playing the game since Legion? If anything I feel I have gotten better at the game.
This is not how I remember it at all. And I did almost every single Mage Tower spec in Legion. I didn’t one shot- but I was able to do it without too much trouble after learning the mechanics .
You keep saying this like it means something. You haven’t said anything ugly and neither have I.
I know I haven’t.
How necessary is min/maxing really? You’re not making a strong case. This also has nothing to do with FOMO since this will be returning with the same rewards on a set schedule.
I’m not making a case for or against mix/maxing, move on. My original point is still that it’s a shame the MT is better experienced with old gear. The challenge with old gear vs. SL gear isn’t even close.
No, YOU!!1 I can only assume you wanted a nonsense/ filler response to that nonsense/ filler statement.
Yuck, your stack of ugly just went to x3. DBM would be screaming.
I don’t think you understand what ‘required’ means.
It sounds like you don’t understand how “required,” like most things in life, is in fact a gradient.
I can verify they’ve done it under those conditions, I can state the facts all I want. I know you think you’re being clever in your pedanticism, but you’re not.
Neither of us have. I’m starting to think you’re attempting to deflect to playing games because you know your arguments up until this point have lacked credibility.
This is only opinion, not fact.
Show the data or go home.
Oh no, I’ve been wounded into silence.
Now you’re intentionally trolling. It’s rather entertaining. Any other words you want to change the definitions of to support this sad argument that you need Timewalking gear to do the tower?

There’s no deflection and my arguments are from my perspective.
This is only opinion, not fact.
See above for “my perspective.”

Something-something “I can verify [I’ve] done it under those conditions, I can state the facts all I want”, or something-something. /shrug
Any other words you want to change the definitions of to support this sad argument that you need Timewalking gear to do the tower?
I haven’t redefined any words. Show the definition or go home.
You can’t deny that old gear greatly improves the MT experience. Which to re-state the point again (keep up): its a shame that old gear is as necessary as it is.
In closing, I think you’ve made some pretty credible posts, but don’t spoil your words of wisdom with bully behavior (you know you have).
Was I trolling you a little? Sure, but that’s because I always troll bullies a little bit. Was I being being pedantic? No… go look that one up before you drop it again.
It was so shameful to see this long reply of yours…
A person’s perspective is always subjective. There’s no reason to cut quotes and make it sound like I suggested anything else. That’s just petty.
The fact that you actually posted the definition isn’t even remotely cute. It’s very easily inferred how I placed “required” on a gradient of resoluteness. That doesn’t redefine the word, it expands its capability.
Those last three quotes still occupy the same sentiment: (1) MT wasn’t relaunched with the expectations of the playerbase to game old gear in the way we have (we went way farther) and (2) you don’t have to use old gear, but your quality-of-life will be greatly increased due to stat scaling.
Let’s get one thing straight, you’re not going to shake me on my own thoughts; save your emojis for someone else.
I don’t think that word applies in this context. You seem to have trouble with words.
Cute? Was it as uncute as
? Play stupid games win stupid prizes
Timewalking has always benefited old gear. You’re acting like it’s a shock MT does too. I might agree with you if it was required and you couldn’t do it in SL gear… but you can.
Well there you go, you’re agreeing with me.
Uh oh, I better buckle in, this one’s going to be a real heavy hitter.
Bear tuning seemed fine. I bought a few pieces to replace my dom sockets and never felt like the DPS check was that tight.
I know there are a lot of videos out there where people died and the NPC barely finish the boss.
When I killed it I wasn’t even looking at the bosses HP, I was just focused on the annihilates, and after I lived the 4th one I looked at boss health and it was 2%. I ate an orb and it died like 12 seconds after the 4th cast.
So…tell me, what’s wrong with the tuning? Do you not think 4 annihilates is a good number to have to live as a bear tank? I know some people even base their strat around only eating 3. Like how few mechanics do you want to have to deal with?
It most certainly applied in that context. Your long reply was “worthy of or causing shame or disgrace.” Don’t mince words if you’re gonna be wrong. You’ll look foolish for it.
Whoops, too late.
? Play stupid games win stupid prizes
This was obviously me mocking you for one of your previous posts. You should look that up to see it the context applies here.
While you’re doing that, let me fix the above:
"? Play stupid people games win make stupid prizes burns "
Okay Rachel Platten.
Calling me an award-winning singer/songwriter isn’t much of a put-down. Since I neither sing nor write songs, does Rachel Platten really fit the context here?
Hoping others will learn from your mistakes is admirable, I’ll have a lot to learn from you here.
It obviously was. I was obviously calling it because you chose a weak point to mock. And now you’ve got your own foot in your mouth because of it.
You spent days working on this, and this is what you came up with? Yikes…
It appears you’ve mastered the art of googling a person you don’t know while completely missing it the reference. I was making fun of the self-empowerment theme of your statement sounding like it was written right on the heels of you binging Fight Song. You can Google the lyrics to that since I know you haven’t heard it.
You say after it clearly went straight over your head. I don’t have any issue making references. You’re struggling to understand them because you don’t know the reference and internet searches can only hold your hand so far
What stopped me from finishing the tower back in the day was that it was rarely up when I wasn’t at work. I got one tower done, was working on learning others, and was gearing up other characters to do theirs.
I continue to be somewhat annoyed about overgeared players then and now making fun of normalgeared players for not finding it a cakewalk. Some of them prevailed anyway, and there is a rush to finally winning when you went in undergeared and still won.
But I still feel like optimized/overgeared people didn’t truly win it like people who had to adapt with what they had. It’s like school math tests when some kids have graphing calculators…how do you tell who did well by skill, and who did well by mechanical element?
So I don’t hold its achievements to be valuable. Since we didn’t go in on templates, I can’t tell whether you won on skill or gear.
I want to go finish my mage tower, not this “updated” one.
I did not object to the punishing and sometimes unsuited to the role fights so much as not being able to go learn the fight at my availability. Now in addition to the mechanics I’d have to learn a new damage tuning as well.
To make me happy about it, you’d have to put the real rewards back and leave it up as an on demand thing.
It was quite shameful for you to spend so much time making a long reply after I’d checked out from this thread via farewell message. That’s criteria enough.
Hoping others will learn from your mistakes is admirable, I’ll have a lot to learn from you here.
This was a terrible attempt to flip my words back on me. Might as well have said “I’m rubber and you’re glue.”
It obviously was. I was obviously calling it because you chose a weak point to mock. And now you’ve got your own foot in your mouth because of it.
My foot isn’t in my mouth. This retort was too childish to bake up something clever in response.
You spent days working on this, and this is what you came up with? Yikes…
The idea that I spent days thinking about this is disgusting. I saw your kindergarten-level reply within this hour.
What’s more distressing to me is how quickly you replied. I didn’t realize I had such an eager fan…
It appears you’ve mastered the art of googling a person you don’t know while completely missing it the reference. Weak; so very weak. I’m likely older than you and I’m well aware of who she is. What a ridiculous thing to say.
If you think that’s what self-empowerment looks/sounds like, you might what to hit the Google-machine a little harder.
I see. So by your own definition, all of your replies to me are quite shameful. Didn’t think that one through much, did you?
I didn’t want to default to schoolyard gotchas. And this isn’t 1950 anymore.
I guess you wouldn’t think so when that’s your baseline.
And true, admit it.
Oh please. For someone admonishing me for long replies to you after you check out, you do the same thing 4 days later and expect me to believe you weren’t kept up a couple nights trying to work out a way to finagle your way through a reply? Or are you just a hypocrite?
If you’re distressed, you’ve a weak mind. You should see someone about the major impact online conversations have on you.
Right. Replying to you in a timely fashion and not spending 4 days struggling on comebacks makes me your fan. No really, that’s it. I’m your biggest fan. Notice me, senpai, notice me
You can say it all you want, but that doesn’t mean that it is.
That explains a few things, like having to Google references, weak comebacks, confusion with words and concepts. Now I understand.
You seem quite easily incensed by the things I say. I’m surprised you can manage to type with both hands so thoroughly glued to your pearls.
Yet another instance of the conversation going straight over your head. ‘The Google machine’ did make me laugh though. But because the phrase is funny, but because I know you were calling it that unironically.
