Mage Tower Extended Maintenance

Any news on the return of this?

bump for the druids asking me where to get there green cat. Though I am happy I have it I feel for those that dont since we have such limited customization options.

happy new year yall, guess its still not back lol

would seem its coming back in 10.0.5 they just released a blue post.

The tower was super fun! Thanks blizz.

Can we please have new mogs? and a new mount?

Otherwise why would we do it again? Also that was for SL its passed now gratz on all who did it?!? hehe

I am glad it is coming back soon. I do hope they can somehow account for the power scaling.

S4 and DF pre-patch would have been a great time to be working on them, since there was very little else to be doing.

Having it come back while people are still busy is great and all, but it works best as an alternative when the season is winding down. So I just hope they plan accordingly this time.

Yeah that’s when I did them. Finished up Discipline and Subtlety literally in the days leading up to the announcement…

Have they announced it’s coming back at a particular time? I have tried googling but not seeing a date

it was announced that mage tower is returning with 10.0.5 tomorrow

I thought Mage Tower was something way back in Legion. What exactly is it? Never played Legion. How is it relevant now?

It is a solo challenge at the Broken Shore zone in the Broken Isles.

It was meant to be on par with very difficult content, such as mythic raiding, but for a solo player. No groups. Just you. You go in, you try to kill the boss (or bosses). The particular boss or “scenario” you face varies depending on your spec, and generally they require you to not just dodge mechanics and do your rotation, but also effectively use all of your utility to be successful.

I have completed four, and they are very challenging. Some far more than others… sub rogue took me hundreds of pulls. Literally hundreds. Over the course of a few weeks. Ret paladin too, but in hindsight I think that’s just because it was my first one.

But man… getting that kill is so satisfying.

The reason they are relevant now is because (since they re-added it into the game in SL) is each class gets a unique appearance or “set” for completing the challenge—exclusive. They are pretty damn cool. If you complete all 7 “scenarios” there is an exclusive mount you get.

Tbh bringing it back was an amazing idea in my opinion. It’s a great time killer with a cool reward and a great sense of accomplishment. There are lots of guides and more info, and there are things you can do—farming old gear for better stats, using old consumables—to make it easier, but in my experience it’s been pretty hard no matter what (with the exception of discipline, which is pretty easy because there is a cheese strat).
