Naw I don’t think thats what they are referring to. Because a standardized set of gear would just be basic ilvl 50 gear.

the fact that people realize that certain gear worked better than other gear is not against the rules, not an exploit so asking their kill to be removed because they used their brain with gearing strats is really awful

Nope. Posters have been calling using old gear with gems or enchants “exploiting”. There is no basic ilvl 50 gear.

Clearly Blizzard sees this gear as exploiting if they are hotfixing them nightly.

they havent said other than the one trinket what they are changing they had a list of things that would not work point blank at launch and just because you were smart enough or preapred enough to have other gearing options doesnt mean others who did should be punished

Clearly they are retroactively classifying old gear as “exploiting” which was never considered “exploiting” before. That’s a significant difference. You have convinced me they are using this to obliterate old content, ms 2 posts. Screw levelers, why should they be able to exploit by using gear?

This is a weird change, and has actually made the fight more difficult. The adds now stop to cast, and you can’t drag them over to the boss to incap both the adds and boss at once. The adds also can now stop in an infernal cleave, and you cant interupt them. Unless movement and permakiting is supposed to somehow stop their cast, which it doesn’t, this wasn’t a needed change, and kind of a bad one

It seems they are wanting you to use the orbs to interrupt. Which may be better because you shouldn’t need to hoard as many in p2 now.

I must be below casual then cause these are very difficult for me and I don’t even get close to finishing them.

Where do you get this old gear? I’ve been trying out mythic nightmare gear but it doesn’t seem to do much for me

You forgot to add this change:

Corrupting Shadows Health Reduced.

It makes the fight easier. If you’re put in pulls with the way it used to work it will feel foreign and odd, but you just deal with this mechanic now by rounding them up, then side-stepping their cast as they do not move while casting, and then you have a nice buffer to hit incap without taking any ticks of netherstorm.

However, it takes some getting used to for sure. I have had the DH NPC die several times because I’m used to using wild kiting strategies due to their aggressive pursuit in the pre-nerf version - now they will follow behind and cross paths with the DH NPC if you kite them wildly.

even with the hp nerfs, you still need to hoard them + in p2, you need to be able to reliably interrupt the adds with incap. I’ve already had some attempts where i’m kiting, and they just stop to cast and i cant stop them. Then they run over full channeling on me.

I really think this was a bad change and not asked for. The hp nerfs were more than enough, this is a mechanic change that actually seems worse

Why? The point of that whole phase is to be a dps race.

With those nerfs, it seems pretty clear they want them the challenge close to their original forms(7.2) and not a free win like in Argus.

Heh, the gems get touched because of these dumb towers, I’m gone.

This games gone downhill anyways. Wife will finally quit complaining about me playing too much so she will welcome the change.

Do none of you people have crafting alts?

Many of the things needed for this thing I can make on my army of alts. If the only answer for players is to go buy it off the AH because they cant be bothered getting the mats and making things themselves, then why complain about it? If you want the quick supply then you buy it but dear gawd, stop complaining about it…

Mage Tower is intended to be gear-agnostic. Any gear should be just as good as any other gear.

What is so hard for people to understand about this? This is meant to be a skill-based challenge first and foremost, with any sort of gearing being minor tuning.

But not one where people are literally hitting the enrage timer as the boss dies.

That is the point of the fight, you are suppose to barely getting a kill and not just be handed a free win.
