Mage Tower and Frost DK's

have you tried switching out your talents?
I know that everything should balance out evenly in a perfect world, but that’s never how the mage tower worked before. Certain talents / builds disproportionately favor certain utility over others.

I know you don’t like the answer but it largely is a skill issue. And also a gear issue, but knowledge of optimized gear is the derivative of skill and knowledge you accumulate over time.

Other frost DK’s have already beaten it, and unless it’s being nerfed anytime soon, it appears this is the intended difficulty.

Just keep at it and you will get it.

That’s the whole argument. People have told them, they’re kicking and screaming like a five year old throwing a tantrum over a candy bar in a store because they don’t want to do that. They expect it should be catered to the specific set of talents they chose to take into the challenge and it should be doable with them.

Whether they’re viable or not.

If you want to beat it you’ll do what you have to do to do so. Did you read my post?

I know for a 100% fact I did it as obliteration spec because I’ve ALWAYS hated BOS with a passion. And I know I did all the mage tower stuff back then in trash gear. Somewhere around ilvl 900 and probably with the welfare legendary ring.

As BoS spec yes, not as Obliteration Spec.

I’ve experimented with many diff talent changes that aren’t BoS.
Switched Inexorable for Cold Heart specifically for Phase 2 mobs, usually gets them to 40% hp which is superhelpful as well as the Void Walkers in Phase 3.

Tried Runic Attenuation as DW for extra RP for more Death Strikes, it’s not viable, rarely gives more RP. Murdeous Eff is still the right vhoice.

I’ve tried Frostscythe for KM procs to get out of the Razor Ice for fun, horrible.
Avalanche is a must for that. Wraith Walk is a must for travelling to where Xylem teleports, espesh in Phase 2 combined with Anti Magic Shield.

Hypothermic Pres is only good for Death Strike but without Dark Succor DS is almost useless.

I have experimented, I’ve been playing DK since Wotlk, I’m a skilled player who regularly performs well. I’m yet to see another skilled DK complete MT as Obliteration in this patch.

Then use BoS. You aren’t wanting the challenge of completing it this way. Obviously. Stop wasting time and gold and do it the way you know it can be done. There is no flex when you cry for nerfs.

Aye, I believe you back during Legion when we had access to gear & legendaries. It was fun back then. It’s not right now.

@Eijian, do I need to stamp this on your 4head? I’m not doing it as BoS, I’m doing it as Obliteration.

That might be an indication that you’re shooting yourself in the foot. It might be doable, but not recommended if it makes the challenge more difficult. Maybe it is doable in obliteration, or maybe it isn’t. I wouldn’t know, frankly, but I wish you the best of luck.

You aren’t doing it at all. Switch to BoS.

I remember laughing when subtlety rogue basically had to have the cloak for shuriken storm doing it traditionally to deal with the ice spikes effectively and a different talent selection from what you’d normally run.

I ended up beating it without that setup because I got really good about using Death From Above (now a pvp talent iirc) which was part of the raid spec and timed it properly that my character would be in the air before he blinked and dropped the spikes, so my character would fly across the arena like Jackie Chan and just ignore the spikes entirely.

Essentially rn it is shooting myself in the foot because I’m trying to figure out a strategy for Obliteration. I know BoS works. I’ve done it before. Years ago. The commenters in here can’t grasp that concept lol

I’ll continue to experiment and try but it’s absurd right now as Obliteration. I appreciate the luck too! Thank you!

I choked on my tea reading that snarky remark. Take the like, I don’t usually give these out at all but you’ve earned it.

Your opening paragraph is just so bizarre.

Rephrased it sounds like this:

I have the right tool for the job, I just refuse to use it.

Locking yourself to 1 spec in a class is a mistake. But you can get by.
Locking yourself to 1 talent in a spec is just ridiculous.

Would you use a wrench to hammer a nail into a wall?

Learn to adapt OP.

Because all specs should be the ‘right tool for the job’ in this solo content. If it’s not, then it needs fixing I’m afraid.

If I had the ability to post pictures, as well as knew for a fact I wouldn’t get vacationed for it I’d post the brainlet wojak where he’s trying to jam a square peg into a triangular hole.

You’re right.
Frost can do it. As BoS.

Talents are quite literally designed to be situational tools.

Mhmm, and I’m trying to complete it as Obliteration. Your point? Yet to come across someone who’s done it as Obliteration that can offer some guides on it.

BoS works, I did it in Legion, I can do it again here. I don’t want to. I want to do it as Oblieration.

That you’re using the wrong tool for the job and complaining about it.
I stated that clear as day in my initial post.

This reminds of that Druid that posted a long time ago who never spent any talent points at all because they didn’t want to “limit” themselves.

I’ll be fair. You’re not trying to complete it as obliteration. You’re more wanting to and spending more time crying on the forums that you can’t do it as Obliteration than doing the actual challenge and perhaps maybe getting it one pull.
