This “was” Twobbles fire mage.
And…
This was the OG fire mage I had.
T2 is pretty strong- and it frees up the best pieces for other players. However, it has one glaring flaw- no hit. The best pieces up til AQ that have hit would all break t2- ringos, arcane accuracy, t1 hat- then there’s some clearly stronger pieces even without like blackwing shoulders. And once ZG is out, Bloodvine with the set bonus basically blasts everything else out of the water except ringos- and since you switch to fire in AQ you’ll want it going into AQ.
To go t2, you effectively need force concentration and nelth tear- and if you’re WC with T2 and no hit you’re not going to get stacks up due to resists, but if you’re WC you’re prob also parsing lower than everyone and thus not getting a nelth tear on priority via LC (or competing against every caster for it with DKP).
Main thing is- T2 may be behind a few of the off pieces that every caster competes for, but unlike T1 it is actually a pretty good set overall. The only piece that is considerably weak is the shoulders. But, I think the lack of hit (and high likeliness you won’t get nelth tear, and maybe not even forced conc) actually leaves you in a very bad place as a WC mage.
2-3% hit
5% crit
And 200 sp
Is what you give up going with T2 over other non set pieces. Legs and gloves are only good t2 pieces. Braver and belt are trash. Helm is worse than T1 literally.
If you go pyroblast+winters chill it actually averages about the same
But hey this guy looked at a guide once
never heard the “t2 is for WC mages” meme before. i can’t believe that the chance at a proc increases uptime. for uptime, you want to be casting rank 1 FB at the start of a fight, and if you get a proc during those first casts its going to be worthless since you still have to wait for the GCD.
Its more-so that winters chill is the only spec that can afford to splash pyro ignite for those procs
meme?
It’s about prioritizing loot so you don’t waste it. Your raid overall will perform better with the BIS pieces going to your arcane mages and the set pieces going to your WC mage. This avoids having ‘wasted’ gear while still bringing up the overall dps of your mages and therefore the raid.
Has nothing to do with uptime.
The netherwind set is only good for the 3 piece. Random instant casts aren’t nearly as good until you can use fire.
The 3 piece is meh for frost as well if you are alliance, because it is something like 65% threat reduction on frostbolt with set, talents and salvation which is waaaaaaaayyyyyy overkill.
2/18/31 thank me later
Im prob out dpsing all these haters that said t2 was trash they ha ve no clue what they are talking about atleast other kromcrush mages understand its also very nice in f ire spec
8/8 T2 is extremely good due to the netherwind proc. The only reason it isn’t BiS in raids is due to it not giving enough +hit. With your other off items being BiS you will be at around 3% less damage than full BiS. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve only seen 1 mantle of the blackwing cabal and 3 tears drop since BWL launch. Every other mage who has ventured to wowhead.com for their BiS list is competing on these rare drops and most likely not getting fully geared.
Outside of raid, 8/8 tier 2 + BiS off items out damages the current phase 4 BiS list and wrecks in PvP, also BiS for killing bugs. At some point you will switch it out but you will be heavily geared and can cherry pick your upgrades with dkp along the way. Consider to yourself what would be funnest for you and go with that.
I love it for pvp mainly bgs or when I get the jump on someone but not for duels. I even got better bis items that gives me more raw stats including stamina but the proc is really strong, it’s kinda hard to convert it into a Pyroblast if you’re used to spamming frostbolt (elemental spec) and it takes a little while for you to learn how to hit the cast button only once and wait but yeah its good and fun.
I absolutely love it for pvp… the proc goes off a lot for me and almost at the best of times.
I have been destroyed by a 8/8 proc in a bg.
Should work out to about 6% haste for frostbolt. 10% haste for fireball (10% of the time you cast a fireball 100% faster.)
It looks pretty cool. It’s good.
