They had to give the NPCs better than mythic raid gear, and they’re still getting carried in normal dungeons.
Putting them into M+ is functionally not different from having someone AFK.

A lot of people just don’t read huh ![]()
The point is that it won’t fix the problem.
Having an AI NPC affix might actually make the dungeon harder than trying to 4 player it, so you’ve manage to spend a lot of time and effort to make something that’s worse than doing nothing.
will only know by testing and tweaking
I’m seeing a therapist for M+ key abandonment issues.
We also understand that fantasy and magic dont happen in real life.
“just end world hunger”
How?
“look. read what i said. just end world hunger”
Just because you say words does not mean its a plausible solution.
Bots should have no access to worthwhile reward content.
You cannot substitute players for AI in group content where the difficulty is derived from communication and coordination.
As a quick example. Say the healer leaves and an AI healer takes their place.
Can the bot healer successfully heal the HPS check present in the dungeon? If they can then what’s the point of having a real healer, since they will only be a variable and source of potential misplays, and if they can’t then the dungeon will still be a failure.
will the NPC be eligible for that person’s loot share?
what if a person gets kicked?
Oh now that I have read the thread, here is my non trolling response.
I’m good with this, but your AI replacement is tank Brann, even if you still have a tank. Good luck finishing.
Oh wait, still trolling.
*Darn you Tiffany for beating me to this.
No. /10 char
I am sorry but if Brann Bronzebeard himself joins my M+ key no matter what he says, I will leave.
That man’s related to delve duty for his sins.
Wrong. Key depletes waste our time for mistakes out of our control
I’m not really sure if the AI could fill a tank or healing roll reliably to a standard of M+, but it’s better than nothing… still think more should be done.
Another idea that has just as many flaws as leaving the system as is.
The problem is simply the result of the game large and multiplayer. When there were locked servers, you had a reputation to uphold and all that. When they started removing all barriers to make it easier for people to play with one another, they increased the ability to be completely anonymous. There are very few consequences.
So if someone wants to leave a group of strangers for ANY reason, they can. The game wants you to make friends and make communities and play together. That is the best way to reduce key leavers.
Any system they put in to combat the instances of key leaving, have negative aspects which can be used to grief or disrupt gameplay of others. The system works fine as is.
The main thing that Blizzard is firm on, is that any system where players can possibly punish an innocent person, is a non-starter. While it can feel like someone bricking a key by leaving is exactly that, it isnt.
Better solution is the person who leaves gets a 90 day deserter debuff and cannot join any groups or run content for being toxic. And the key does not brick if that debuff gets applied.
Nah only change they need to make is if somebody disconnects/leaves it shows a failed key on their history
Everything else fixes itself or is fine
RoFL. If Brann takes over when somebody leaves, that would be funny. Especially if he replaces a Healer. He would just throw potions on the floor. And he only have potions for 1 guy… not for the whole party. LOL.
I think they should deplete, but at the same time there is a floor for how much they deplete, think the all 12s timed means you can’t go under that deal. My only change would be expand it to the lower break points, all 4s timed? can’t go under 4, all 7s timed? can’t drop below 7s, etc.
While it can feel like someone bricking a key by leaving is exactly that, it isnt.
Well, it is, but it is the kind that is really the bed of a choice of bad. To put it in perspective, all “non-starter” ideas are those that would punish people for things beyond human control for the most part. I tend to look more for ideas like the key has charges before depleting. or any key that has a leaver, for any reason, is marked not has a failure, but an incomplete, locking the key at that level till either 3 in completes or the key is completed, timed or not.
mistakes out of our control
How would any mistake you make be out of your control?
