Affliction needs a complete redesign. Way too many buttons; too many global cooldowns to endure; unstable affliction has been a bad concept from day one; requiring unstable affliction as a core component to multiple talent usefulness was poorly conceived.
Need to go back to vanilla dots and flinging shadowbolts.
Oh wow, youâre that same hunter that posted that meltdown thread, and youâre still this obsessed with Hpel?
I mean, viability being defined as ability to achieve +20s without overpowering them outright? Yes, every spec can clear +20s. That much is obvious. Just casually browsing through information on IO, it would actually seem every single spec in this game is more than readily capable of clearing +20s, or even +25s currently.
Sure, undergeared is subjective. Some people were clearing +15s and +20s within the first week or two with S2 tier sets at around 435-445 item level. Competent is also subjective, but thereâs really no qualifying that besides records of what someone does or does not complete. Hence âcompetent enoughâ meaning they hold their weight and clear the key.
How is that relevant to this topic?
Presuming youâre not doing stupid things with team comps like trying to stack 3 augvokers or something, yes, every spec is viable for every key across every affix combination.
This is false.
Youâre the one making a stupid claim. Back it up.
+20 is the bar viability is typically measured by because itâs the bar where any actual progression of gear/tangible rewards stops. If every spec can clear past +20s (which is currently an indisputable fact, since as of last time I checked every spec has cleared up to or past +26s this season), then every spec is viable.
meltdown = proving ellipis and his anon posse wrong? odd way to put it, but hey, you do you, boo! he said shadow was fine over and over and over when i said shadow needed help, and in this thread (and previous general forum threads, where he had his hat in his hand, pointing out with his aww shucks comments about how awful shadow was) he said it isnât (which has been quoted for your convenience and errthing!) not difficult to comprehend, but eh, i suppose it might be for someâŠ
Thank you, I sincerely appreciate the clarity. I suspect thatâs about accurate. I will still refuse to accept it as sufficient balance.
I see a lot of people worried about balancing DPS in keys 25+ when theyâve never completed a +20. Itâs weird. People just like to complain. People really need to stop looking for reasons to whine and just play the game.
Every single spec can blast and do good dmg up to 25âs. With or without a lego. Fire mages are picked due to cauterize and priority dmg. In lower keys other specs outperform them in DPS. I hate playing fire. It is what it is. The only way to fix this âproblemâ is to cap M+ keys at a certain level. This is why vault rewards are capped at 20.
Not hating. Just stating. <3
Yeah idk. Personally I canât see how a spec can go from, in some peopleâs words, unplayable to nearly 100% MDI representation after a 7% effective damage buff.
Sounds more like it was fine / average beforehand and the buff pushed it over the edge.
No, meltdown = freaking out all over that thread. I donât even have a dog in this fight, I just thought you went a little nuts. Doesnât have anything to do with the validity of anybodyâs points, you werenât behaving in a stable fashion, whether you were right or wrong. And this new comment really isnât helping your case.
Chill out, dude.
M+ DPS balance is certainly arguable. But, in my opinion, DPSes seem fairly balanced right now for the general population (not the people doing MDI-style pulls).
Popularity is mainly because top players made those classes meta. Generally speaking, meta classes are better, but it does not mean other classes are not competitive.
People will pick meta classes even if they are 2% better. And I canât blame them. Most people would prefer to play a class that has a higher potential.
lol then why did you call for buffs in that previous thread and are now defending shadowâs buffs? if they were just fine pre-buff why do you think shadowâs latest buffs should stand?
blah blah blah, not discussing m+ balance with just another dude with a serious case of dunning-krueger who doesnât actually do any m+, lol. have a good day!
Yep, there you go. Legit didnât say a word about M+. Hope things get better for you, dude.
thatâs nice, but the whole point of contention is based on⊠yep you mightâve guessed it⊠m+!
have a good day!
Thatâs⊠not relevant. If I punched a hole in my wall because my cat peed on my shoes, that doesnât mean people who donât own cats canât think Iâm overreacting.
erm, ok

I want to stop playing BM, but good God watching my HP yo-yo more than my teammates isnât fun.
Thatâs because BM is fun and simple. Feral or arcane mage isnât really either of those things. BM hunters are always popular, even when they are the lowest dps.
Soon weâll have S4 and the tier sets + DF dungeon lists (along with presumably fated rotating raids) means balance is going to be all over the place.
Here is the cold hard truth though. Literally 99.99% of you arenât playing content where your spec is what is stopping you. None of us, including me of course, play and parse 100% each and every run and 99.99% of us arenât going anywhere near keys where whatever fractions of percentage most specs are effectively doing in the hands of a human being prone to VERY suboptimal play matter.
You ALWAYS have your own key you straight up never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever can be denied from. Pugs and their expectations and reliance on âthe metaâ literally do not have to be a factor for you. List your own damn key and pick people in sufficient/appropriate roles (no lacking a tank, healer, or running 2+ augs) whose scores and IO are similar to yours and I can literally guarantee for the 99.99% your key is completely timeable if you all are playing appropriately up to snuff and you will quickly enough find where your effective skill ceiling lies.
Thatâs impossible. Your characters output is a function of your skill and your characters potential. Both are important.
