I don’t see how it’d be possible to get honor gains this low without excessive afking for mark cap, I got over twice as much.
One AV win can easily give 800 honor by itself.

They don’t reset honor on launch because they already did.
100% needs to put everyone on equal footing for season 1. In the pass they would trade in our currency’s for some gold before a new season. Other wise Season 1 is going to be scuffed right on the get go and means the real pvp season won’t happen till season 2so everyone is on equal grounds. A lot of people came back to wow last week of Vanilla/prepatch and missed out on most of that honor due to leveling or farming gold…But now if they don’t reset honor people that capped will have atleast a 5 piece+ lead at the start of the arena season 1. Not good folks…
I don’t know enough about what really happened, but IMO, instead of wishing for an honor reset, why not just lower the costs of honor gear!
I mean seriously, you can run one dungeon and get a great piece of gear, or do some rep quest and buy some.
But when it comes to actual PvP gear, the cost is completely out of this world and it SHOULD NOT be so expensive.
I just spent an entire week playing bg’s to finally get one piece of gear! TALK ABOUT RETARDEDLY EXPENSIVE!
And since this honor reset will never happen, at least it gives the rest of us a way to catch up gear wise so we at least have a better chance to be viable against those who apparently got exaggerated honor do to some bug in the game.
Honestly, 12k+ honor to but one piece of gear is just insane and Blizzard should have never made the costs so dam high to begin with considering PVE gear is handed out for very little effort!
Another reason for lowering gear costs is simple. The ppl for whom this entire post is about are not going to be affected because with all that extra honor they obtained, it was already spent on gear. So the lower costs of gear will only benefit the rest of us who don’t have many pvp pieces yet.
Win Win for everyone. We get to catch up while those who benefited from this error won’t be affected at all!
