Loyal Customers Stiffed

A couple hundred out of millions doesn’t really matter.

Because a lot of people don’t really get their stuff in a bunch over these things and are either in game enjoying it or have long gone onto some other game or whatever.

All these entitled people in this thread. It’s spectacular.

Entitlement is the new virtue.

It’s an incentive to bring back more players… why is that so hard to understand. Companies do that all the time. It’s not being vague on purpose, it’s just that basic, not hard to understand TO ME at least.

You are perfectly fine for feeling like you do. Entitlement is still entitlement. This is a Company that while you don’t have to agree with what they do are in their right to do it thus you being not deserving of anything. If they want to give something free for paying customers they will, but to say you deserve it… that’s some nice entitlement there.

Nothing to explain, it’s you, paying money for a game and doing monthly, expecting also free things just because you, play the game and continue to pay money to them… yup… it would be nice of them to give free things but to say you deserve it, again, a bit of a stretch mr. entitled zandalari troll.

I know a lot of companies do that. Give former or new members or subscribers better promotions, offers, discounts, freebies and then the loyalists that stick around get diddley.

I think it’s a slap in the face to consumers that are loyal, but that’s just my opinion, right or wrong, that’s how I feel about it.

That’s more odd than I thought. It makes no sense to me at all.

Could be false information, wowhead shows that it’s a lvl 100 boost. At this point I don’t feel like checking which it is lol… I think they gave a 100 boost to keep you playing a bit longer just for their own reasons.

The Anniversary gift is phrased as such: “Return to Azeroth to celebrate World of Warcraft’s 15th Anniversary with this free level 100 boost!”

Now do you see the problem in that phrasing? It puts emphasis on celebrating with a gift to the player. It doesn’t say, “return to Azeroth to reconnect/catch up with old friends,” It’s just… “celebrate.”

I’m asking why I specifically, out of every World of Warcraft player in the world, don’t deserve a boost to celebrate the 15th anniversary of this game like everyone else. You made a very clear emphasis on that, and so I’m curious why that is.

I’m not stupid, of course I know that. My problem is in the morality of this decision, as it seems like many believe this decision to be scummy, and it kind of is. The loyal playerbase gets to celebrate with a store mount, while the others get to instantly boost a new character.

Also keep in mind that some players are receiving the boost after unsubbing for a couple hours. A little odd don’t you think?

Okay so I’ll try to interpret this properly, you’re telling me that I don’t deserve anything for paying monthly, besides the game I pay for. You’d be right. Again, my problem lies in the morality of gifting random boosts and leaving some people out.

Yeah, because I’m talking about the morality here.

This reminds me of the whole Asmongold and Taliesin “Responsibility” drama. Yes, while Asmongold doesn’t have to control his audience, reaching out a little and at least trying to help would be appreciated. Instead, it’s now that while Blizzard doesn’t have to give a boost to everyone, it would be a nice way to reward the ENTIRE community that has supported them throughout the years, not just the inactive players.

That’s perfectly understandable, thanks for being calm and reasonable. Yeah like I said, I’m feeling a bit off myself about it since the skip is pretty dope and it’s quite weird that it’s only a select few. I’d imagine that the ones getting it after unsubbing or the ones that are actually subbed are bugs within the system itself… Blizzard is known for the bugs.

But yeah I am totally with you on the ‘‘morality’’ part. It’s definitely a head scratcher…

This is gonna be a $#!%show, obviously.

Because, apparently, you are already willing to continue paying for this ‘hot mess’.

The promotion is specifically intended to lure unsubscribed players back to the game.

Not an odd choice for them, considering the issues it has raised for many who have remained subbed and got nothing.

Anyone with an active account, who will probably need to log in during a specific timeframe, just like all previous anniversary promotions.

So… not just anyone.

They’re not being rewarded. It would be closer to the truth to say they’re being bribed to come back.

Too busy having fun with my subs to worry about this.

Except the metaphor doesn’t work because you are inviting potential addicts back and then handing them a baggie of cornstarch. The PRODUCT has to make you feel good. Given all the customers who have run off after tasting BfA, I’m thinking this scheme won’t help much.

If you want to keep players paying, Blizzard, make a great game. Or, yanno, update your resume.

  1. Scroll of Resurrection gave key in-game goodies to the friend who was already subbed, not the returning friend. (The character boost was given to the returning player._
  2. IIRC, yeah, people were kinda ticked off.
