I pugged m+20 in legion, what’s your point?
It was still a trash experience having literally dozens of bricked keys every week all because of…well, people.
They also need to take the timer off. It’s just making people be too picky with their runs, to the point where many people I knew who did M+ as their main gameplay loop just stopped playing the game after 15-20 years… Nobody wants to pay to play a game where not only to they constantly have to deal with the risk of regular verbal abuse and drama and just casual nonsense…and then they still have to have some chud decline them for a +3 because they don’t have a 1800 rating and aren’t 25 ilvls higher than the guy who started the group lol.
It’s not the trash experience you claim. Once you get out of baby keys, ppl have some clue what they’re doing.

Was it “Best-in-slots” mace? If so, I bet they got it and didn’t use the convert thing and only saw on a guide its your best weapon.
But on topic, yeah there is like this creeping level of despair that happens throughout a WoW season where keys get submerged in a pool of crap over time where only the absolute dreg are left in those keys. As the season goes on, keys 2 then 3 then 4 and so on fall and I think its up to like 7 or 8 now. I feel bad for those that want to climb keys on alts or recently returned and aren’t up to 10s yet as they still seem safe for the most part.
I am never one to insult someone over a video game but some people seem like they couldn’t pour water out of a boot if the instructions were on the sole.

Honestly I’d rather low keys be a nightmare and gatekeep the bad players forcing them to actually learn the mechanics if they want to go up in key levels

Neither of those are toxicity. The first is just flat out untrue, but a group leader can set whatever parameters they want to invite players. If the group leader doesn’t want to invite you, oh well. The second is just noobs being noobs or people making mistakes.

It’s only trash if you join trash groups. Vet the people you play with better. I can count on one hand the amount of legitimately toxic runs I’ve had this expansion after doing hundreds of keys. A run failing because people are making mistakes is part of the game, not “toxicity”.

At the end of the day, you can run most M+ under 7, with a bunch of people who don’t even know how to play the game, and I would know because I brought my gf to some M+5s and she was in second place while maintaining CC and her Arcane Mage rotation, all after a month of playing.
The game isn’t hard, the system just encourages people to be little freaks about how picky they are because they are more afraid of wasting time on a bricked key because the game punishes you in a really dumb way and it takes the encouragement out of it for many people.
Maybe check the forums more often, and you will see how many people are having problems, despite following the advice that you copy/paste from the other 500000 people who think their advice actually makes a difference to a bunch of people using addons to gatekeep who they invite, based entirely off stats that they usually don’t understand.

It would be better if low M+ didn’t give people key upgrades so quickly. IMO you should not get a 5 after your 2 gets blasted by overgeared pugs you won’t be doing the 5 with. If you time a 2 you should get a 3 regardless of how fast it was under time, or maybe even, you have to time a few 2s to get a 3, and so on. Then once you get to 10 same as normal
People who run their key with valor farmers get an 8 as their third key ever (remember current M+8 is DF M+18) and this is wrong. Could be looked at

I watched the interview with Ion himself, where he said he wants to create an option in game for addons like Details and Bigwigs so that players don’t feel forced to go to 3rd parties. And that maybe in the future, big emphasis on MAYBE, they can get to a point with native features and a changed boss design philosophy where things like Weakauras won’t solve boss mechanics.

There is a serious problem, and there is even another new addon coming out, or already out, that just filters people out via logs. Except most players simply don’t log, so there is no data to work with on the addon…and it’s not a good thing at all.

No it doesn’t.
Only takes 1 out of 5 players to log in a group for it to be public and pulled for the addon. Also, many people doing high keys absolutely review logs of their runs. I have the addon. I barely use it, but it’s there if I want it.
lt’s a tool to give information. The only people who don’t like it are the ones with bad numbers. If you have bad numbers, I might not want to group with you. That’s my choice and my freedom in this game.
I bet you’re a huge proponent of a queue system for M+.
This good and also necessary and what I will need to do next. For me, just learning the map routes, my key binds, and getting used to the amount of information on the screen is a challenge. I live a super simple life now and the game is sensory overload for about a month for me until it’s all zen like it ought to be.
Update: I have worked my way into 8-9’s now, and they seem to be going MUCH smoother…
