for the 2nd year in a row my Heart Shaped Box shows Mount already known. I have never had the mount drop for me. I removed my addons and reset my UI renamed cache WTF etc still get the same message

If you are just seeing THE HEARTBREAKER in the loot that dropped and not X-45 HEARTBREAKER, that is the toy not the mount.

Thank you for clearing that up… whenever the lucky folks get the mount drop does it appear right away or do you have to open the heart shaped box?

This. It’s in the box, not a separate drop.

X-45 Heartbreaker

Which means that if someone opens the box after the group breaks up, no one else will know whether the mount was in there or not.
