Loremaster Struggling with WC2

Hey, Kaedos here!

I completed loremaster recently. I want to become a loremaster of WOW. I love the story and the world. I recently completed all quests chronologically on a new character in retail. The character has pretty much every quest done in the game outside of current Undermine and repeatables/time gated quests.

NOW. I loved this journey but I want to go even more hardcore with the lore journey.

This is what I have decided. Play WC1-3, then both horde and alliance loremaster on classic realms (I know it will be slow, but this is all about the journey and learning for me after playing the game over 15+ years.

WC1 went very well. Really loved it. WC2. Oh my god it’s brutal. I am spending DOZENS of hours on some scenarios. It’s getting quite frustrating. MAINLY because I am doing this for lore purposes and have such long times between progress. So I am thinking about just skipping the rest of WC2 and watching the cinematics and reading the story beats for all of WC1 and 2 and watch the cinematics on stream with viewers. I stream the journey on Twitch. And then play WC3, then all of classic, then horde retail, etc. WC3 allegedly has a difficulty slider that includes Story Mode.

But here’s my predicament. I told myself I would do WC1-3 playing them before jumping into classic. But on one hand, WC2 is kicking my butt. I just haven’t done a ton of RTS games, and I am doing this for LORE purposes, not for an RTS hardcore experience. On the other hand, I can’t help but wonder if I am hindering my journey by just reading the story beats and watching the cinematics with viewers on stream.

What do you guys think?

If you’re not a regular RTS player but still want to experience the lore of the older games, there is nothing wrong with watching others play through them. Do what you are comfortable with and have fun at your own pace.

Can always use cheats too.

Warcraft 2 missions were really hard without a proper strategy.

I ended up using cheats. For this loremaster journey, im not wanting an RTS experience. I just wanted to see the story. I will go back to them im sure and play them like intended. Im in WC3 now and having an amazing time.

Yeah, WC2 is a bit of a slog. It is hard to go back to after tasting WC3 for me.

Pretty sure it had hard-coded in cheats where you could just type in certain phrases and your army would be invincible, other ones to reveal the map, max resources, etc. I don’t remember the Warcraft 2 ones but I do remember some of the Starcraft cheats (operation cwal, power overwhelming, there is no cow level, black sheep wall being a few I actually still remember).

I beat all of Warcraft 3 and TFT without cheats, and I feel like it was a much less painful experience than Warcraft 2. With that said, I haven’t played the Remastered WC3 and haven’t heard great things, but I still doubt it’s anywhere as difficult as WC2 was.

I think, that not only should you play war1,2 ad war3 BUT also get your hand on the manuals that are available on the internet because a lot of the lore are in there.

Mainly for war2 it is important to read the manual to know what the orcish clans originally were before Warlord of Draenor retconed each of them.

Same with W3 you should get your hand on the full manual where all the lore was pout, and when i mean all the lore, i mean that basically Classic wow did not even add much of any lore to begin with, it mainly took from war3 manual.

I recently played Warcraft 2 and it is extra hard compared to Reforged.

It is a good day to die, glittering prizes, and on screen will be a huge time saver!

Beyond the dark portal has maps that are just comically unfair
