On the other hand, they’re not hampered by distractions such as breathing, farting, or sexual inclinations.
Thanks for all the replies, guys! This has been a really exciting thread to read through.
Unable to fart? That breaks my immersion. Literally unplayable.
This is really fascinating. Especially the part about manipulating spirit magic. Are there any sources that I could look into that explore that idea in greater detail? I would love to read more about that.
There actually isn’t too much information about it, and I should clarify that I was doing guesswork/headcanon since we only have so much information on this kind of issue.
Anyway, I’ll give the few sources I can for the information we do have on Spirit.

On my evil aligned undead monk I describe him as an Apothecary who became enamored with the more clinical and precise nature of Pandaren martial arts.
The undead have some physical advantages and disadvantages. They’re comically durable. In game and in many stories you see them shrugging off impalement, bisection, a canon ball to the face and in one case being completely dismembered. They also seem to have claws which would be helpful in cqc.
Downside is they don’t recover naturally. Only magic or consuming the flesh of the living or other undead does that. So if a Forsaken wants to get swole, they’re going to have to approach body building quite literally.
Thankfully for undead monks though I think this isn’t too big a problem. They seem to enhance their senses, strength and agility by channeling spirit energy as well as consuming powerful brews.
At any rate if they could teach High Mountain tauren to roll despite having antlers that should by all rights send them pinwheeling for trying such a stunt I think they can manage with anyone.
I find the subject to be both intriguing and reflecting,
The Forsaken are “Ghosts” that have been “profanely” tethered to their decomposing bodies in which necro magic is sustaining both connected ;the soul with the body.
According to Wowpedia, the forsaken feel little to no stimuli physical touch and pain, unless you’ve been tainted long enough with the light enough to have your pre-living senses back to you at an unusual expectations (smell, taste etc,.).
Their bodies; differing levels of decomposition for each individual; may or may not be properly functional & thus a rotten limb or bone can easily be broken apart (unless they see new parts onto their bodies). So for instance, a punch from a rotten flesh & bone may or may not do more harm to themselves as their flesh is weak, unless necro magic or supernatural means may beg to differ otherwise.
A monk is indeed a direct physical combatant that is sustained by the power of their Chi (5th element of spirit according to WoW chronicles).
We could pressume that a forsaken monk ;through excessive deep mediation; is able to make his/her body more stronger & durable through their inner chi & vice versa for all races.
A monk’s punch, kick etc,. Isn’t an average physical one but rather through their inner chi to make it far effective and deadlier that makes it stand out (punching through stone and steel at ease with minimal to no injury to your knuckles).
The monk’s martial art defies that very physical means in which it cannot be explained logically or attempt to make sense out of it since it’s supernatural.
Basically that’s my input in which hopefully might give insight to it.
It’s highly convincing, yet also rather unusual for a decomposed dead being to be able to do such physical feat despite necrosis rot etc,.
Ed just gathers cabbages, ask someone else.
