Should be interesting. I haven’t watched any series yet on Amazon so not sure how qualified they are. I know they beat out Netflix for the rights franchise. And supposedly the series already has an insane budget, more than the original trilogy. So I am sure if nothing else it will be pretty.

They’re doing a good job with The Expanse. And Man in the High Castle was good (until the bizarre ending).

It this on Netflix?

Hot naked female elves is always a good thing.

The Boys is pretty awesome (very, very NSFW so don’t watch it if that kind of stuff bothers you) and that Tom Clancy show was fairly entertaining for the two episodes I watched.

I have heard the middle earth show has an insane budget, so at the very least it will be pretty.

They are injecting something much worse… elf sex

Frodo and Sam can finally consummate their relationship, given the current trend in hollywood productions.

Imagine seeing LotR and not understanding the obvious social issues on direct display.

I’ll watch it if only for this.

The Boys is fantastic. It is incredibly on point for the current political climate too (this is done on purpose by the creators - watch the after show with Aisha Tyler).

Also, if anyone finds themselves looking up to Homelander - get immediate psychiatric attention.

Guess you’re not going to watch it.

I’m assuming that it will be terrible, but I do that about most TV shows. I’ll give it a try if the trailers don’t look awful.

The Lord of the Rings series from Amazon is the most expensive TV production ever. Over 1 billion dollars for that creation. I think I will give it a chance lol.

I was honestly really surprised with how well the show turned out. I only gave it a shot because I have a serious man crush on Karl Urban, but am I glad I did. I loved the first season, and season 2 was incredible as well. Seeing how well that show turned out actually gives me confidence that Amazon can put out good shows, so I’ll allow myself to get excited for the middle earth show.

It could be very good, I am excited for it. It is not a retelling of LotR, it is set in the second age (way before LotR). This means they will have a lot of freedom with the story.

Amazon paid 250 Million for the rights and it is estimated the show will cost over 1billion to produce. They are going all in.

Also, why are so many people being pre-offended at the thought of any “pc” agenda? Can’t we just let them tell their story? Amazon already proved they can produce quality content.

I generally haven’t liked Amazon’s productions as much as Netflix, but there are a few I’ve liked recently, like The Boys. They are definitely improving.

Plus the fact that I’m mostly familiar with LOTR’s trilogy and the Hobbit, but lost interest in the Silmarillion, bodes well that I will like Amazon’s LOTR series.

But I would so much prefer a good Dune instead. I do understand why all the dramatized productions of Dune have been so bad. The most interesting parts of Dune are what the characters are thinking, my favorite of which is when Duke Leto is going about his official duties, while all he can think about is his enemies most recent attempt to kill his son.

LOTR portrayed women on idealistic pedestals, nearly goddess like, which real women (like me) can’t even begin to compete with. If Amazon tones that down a bit, that would be fine with me. And if the anti-social justice crowd has a problem with that or having real life racial minorities represented in a world with different human species, plus it being the ultimate bromance novel, well, pfft.

Not if it’s divergent from Tolkein’s vision just because “it’s 2020 dude.”
