It's a really bad decision. You'll be in a dungeon or raid, kill a boss, loot something. Before...people might be annoyed, but they deal with it and move on. Now you'll be harassed for 2 hours. Constant whispers saying to trade it, constant bickering, troll behavior, arguments, whining. It's just going to lead to so much drama.
Well at least they could just shorten the timer to like 10 minutes or something to avoid that. I do see the effect of this that ninjas are gonna essentially get ostracized from the server a lot quicker since they actually can trade it and it can't be accidental.
Ion said it happened anyways, through costly CSR dealings and low response time, so it is the same outcome except they carry it over from a pre-existing feature that already exists. EZ.

Looking more like #changes.
I'm conflicted TBH. I don't feel like this ends well for fans.
It just means we stay on authentic private servers as before :-/
That was always going to be an option, but when it comes to what Bliz rolls out it's a question mark of if it's worth investing time on (again) since Vanilla was a massive time sink. I guess it's a wait and see thing like it always was going to be, but you see the slippery slope in operation right now.
Where does it end, and is that end point good?
Oh FFS people. They also said servers are gonna be self contained. If you're worried about ninja looting, think about it. You report to your server people were ninja looting.
This isn't that big a deal.

Until they start banning people for name shaming...
"Oh noes, little jonny ninja's feelings got hurt because you let the server know about him"

In a raid, not really. They'll be using master loot. Dungeons I can see the issue but that can be solved by the community policing itself. With the servers not being monster 10k+ pop it'll be doable.
Can't wait for Timmy and his 4 friends to all need on the same item so Timmy can get his t1 set from the pug he was doing bottom damage in
All these changes suddenly I'm not so disappointed at the fact that classic won't have it's own, separate sub. The type of things they're implementing sound like funserver changes after the Q&A. Thanks but no thanks. These are core community changing aspects. Your melee buddy needs a new sword but that nasty other rogue rolled on it? Roll on it with your priest then hand it to your buddy. Rage ensues...
Might as well have leveling speed at 5x with all the funserver nonsense.
so if im a priest i can need on a plate helm and trade it to my warrior friend so he effectively gets 2 rolls
Then you look like an !@#$%^- and the community will take care of you. That’s how it’s suppsoed to be right?
I think the reasoning here suffices having this feature.
The potential introduction this can bring in is that other group players can "Need/Greed" as well when they should have "Green/Pass" and then trade to a friend who wants it. However, this is similar to Ninja looting in general, which was obviously a cultural action that was in the game.
Either way, both actions are reportable and as mentioned, there's certainly social repercussions to those that do so, via chat and community alike.
The bottom line is that, like the Right-Click Report, we can't use people being dicks as a reason not to have an otherwise healthy feature that does NOT effectively change the original philosophy of the game.

If Timmy is in a dungeon with 4 friends they can just pass and let him loot it ...lol
All these people getting mad cause they can't ninja loot.
I'm a bit wary about loot trading, so we'll see how this plays out.
I understand their reason for doing it, but I do think it could be exploited.
Raids in vanilla were almost entirely ML so it will likely only affect dungeon content.
Maybe it was a Bleeding Hollow Alliance thing but the vast majority of L55+ dungeon runs I went on back in vanilla were ML + /roll runs. I could see that culture developing in Classic dungeons.
"We want for someone to have been able to go to sleep in 2006 and wake up in 2019 and see no differences in the game.. except for loot trading and sharding."
What a joke, can't wait to see a rogue and 3 of his friends all roll need on Dal'rends. Then if one of his friends wins he'll just trade him the sword.
Can't wait to label all of them as ninja looters, blacklist them and avoid entire groups/guilds of trash people rather than just 1. Seems great to me.
We can give them beta feedback for minor changes.
For example, if you roll Need on an item, you can't trade it.
Items that you win via Greed, ML, FFA, etc, can be traded.
Simple change, fixes almost all abuse cases.
(I'm not a tremendous fan of it being included, but it's not a dealbreaker for me, especially if they make this change to it and lock you out from trading after rolling Need.)
Exactly. People need to stop this "ITS THE FCKING END OF THE WORLD IM OUT GOODBYEZ" crap...
I agree with your post spot on.
As for the "hur dur lets all need for our one friend"...
1: It was possible in vanilla with the game master system.
2: It will be noticed and those people will be outted as ninjas.
3: L2MASTERLOOTLIKEAFCKINGCHAMP...
Loot trading should really be raid only...
I really don't get why this is done in classic ... like retail kinda make sense but in Vanilla??
I mean, even "prochangers" must see the issue there, right? Go to a dungeon with a friend or two, all roll "Need" and give it yo your friend?
By the way "Ninja" looting is not reportable in most cases .... If the "roll-need" system is abused, according to Blizzard's rules, the group consented to the loot system and hence, it is not bannable.

Except when the master looter is a tard and accidentally gives your loot to the wrong person. Happened to me in MC before.
