Israel is not anti-immigration. It has absorbed more immigrants that any other nation on earth as a percentage of population.
Israel is pro-military because of the very real existential threat to its very existence and because the majority of the population’s children must serve in it.
Religion has more power in Israel so you are correct in that there is no way for homosexuals to marry any more than there is a way for a Muslim woman to marry a Jewish man. However, if those couples marry outside of the country the marriages are legal and recognized. The way religion and power mix is something people are not used to in the US but it is a part of the unique structure of the country.
Have you ever been to Tel-Aviv, there is a thriving LGBTQ scene. It is not for nothing that people talk about the Jerusalem/Tel Aviv divide.
Also, yes, many people carry guns. Did you know that if your gun is stolen due to you being careless with it that you will face 5 years in prison? Leaving it in your locked car is considered careless. Also, the licensing process is extensive and requires a psyc eval.
Not every country is the US, nor should they be. Different nations have different perspectives, different goals and purpose. A conservative American is not the same as right wing nationalist in Europe. A US liberal isn’t the same thing as a European leftist. I don’t like this trend of thinking that all of these terms mean the same things in different places.

There was a time when disagreements were just that. Being left or right just kinda meant you generally agreed with a side.
