Looks amazing for Enhancement - Updates for the 17th

I think enhance maelstrom weapon procs should be used on shocks, not LB or CL.

Make Hailstorm baseline, but incorporate it into Maelstrom so it consumes maelstrom stacks similar to how LB/CL currently do (in summary it would be hitting more targets with more damage per maelstrom stack consumed but consuming the maelstrom).
This would make Frost Shock our baseline AoE spell.
In Hailstorm place on the talent options, bring back an old talent/feature like Stormlash or something like that.

Then have Maelstrom benefit flame shock; giving it increased damage and then:

  1. Have it affect multiple targets at once which could help setup use of Fire Nova, if people use that talent.
    OR
  2. Have it reduce the amount of time it takes to deal its full damage by (x per maelstrom stack consumed). This way you wouldn’t have to worry about overwriting it as much.

This way, it would become our main single target spender and make flame shock feel good to use instead of feeling like the weak alternative to Frost Shock.

I’m personally using Hailstorm right now and just finding it so difficult trying to fit in a flame shock because frost and flame shocks both share a cooldown with each other, and there’s so many times during AoE where I’ll likely miss a chance to use a full hailstorm buff if I throw in a flame shock.

Just some ideas me and a friend tossed around coz we both love enhance, but feel like having a fill spell from Ele being ur maelstrom wep spender isn’t really satisfying in gameplay-wise.

Of course, if there’s any new abilities that would come about, I wouldn’t be against that either.

Enhancement needs MANA ATTENTION.

We need either

  • Maelstrom Weapons reduces mana cost of healing surge by 20% per charge
  • baseline Chance on Hit to restore Mana via melee attacks

Addressing mana fixes so much of our “defensive issues”.

SAY IT AGAIN LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.

Seriously Blizzard. Make each stack of MSW deduct 20% of the mana cost of the spender, and this is fixed. It’s literally all you have to do.

Edit: Also, Astral Phase should break stun like Icebound Fortitude so that we can finally do something about dying within one stun window.

this right here is what needs to be hotfixed today so we can try it for a week before SL… right now we’re paper canons

I mean this whole idea about enhance shaman dying in stuns is tired and i’m sick of hearing it. Literally everyone dies in stuns…This is how you win games. Stunning people is the main win condition in WoW. There are a small handful of classes that have active counters to stuns and those buttons are on pretty long CDs.

Maelstrom healing with swelling waves is currently healing me for like 75% of my heal instantly. I’d like to see them given another minor defensive button but the “we die in a stun” argument is so tired and needs to go away.

You know what melee can get out of stuns?

Any class with a trinket
Paladins with DIVINE SHIELD
Hunters with ASPECT OF THE TURTLE
Warriors with BLADESTORM
Death Knights with ICEBOUND FORTITUDE
Any human

Of the classes that can’t get out of stuns we see several disparities between them and enhancement

Rogues, Monk, DH, Enh, Feral all take issues with stun and have nothing that can help them when stunned outside of the trinket.

  • Rogues however, can vanish reset after, while constantly growing resource during the stun
  • Monk can teleport away from enemy after the stun providing they set it up well, also constantly growing resource during stun
  • DH has built in passive leech, and can immediately start healing directly after stun through dmg
  • Feral has Barkskin, DR usable during stun, immunity to polymorph, constantly grows resource during stun
  • Enh has…can’t grow its healing resource during stun, can’t defensive during stun, no teleport for after, no cc immunity to prevent cc chain, no instant CC to change game tempo, no hard reset to drop combat, no dmg immunity to soak a dmg type

Enhance does bring a ranged interupt, purge, and cleanse. Is that enough to warrant the disparities? Could be, but I personally don’t think so as using any of those eats a GCD not being spent on damage.

Enhance’s only survival method has ever been to battery on targets and self-heal. The solution to off-healing isn’t to nerf the mana or take away their main defensive capability. Its to add a rider to maelstrom weapons where the increased healing is only done on the shaman.

As for Swelling Waves, 3 seconds is a long time in PvP. Especially with a class that can’t: vanish, immune, instant cc, burst gap space maker.

Also, stunning people is the main way you win games but only after properly baiting defensives and cooldowns, which is significantly easier to do on Enh than every other melee spec.

Was just gonna state something similar.

Even though everyone dies do to stuns. Other classes have things to use once out of the stun to reset fights or create opportunities to survive until they can heal or be healed.

Defensives are a huge issue. Because we have 1. So once it’s gone we have to cast heals which makes us vulnerable because you are hard casting or trying to get stacks to instant cast or create space to get healed.

They call it train the blue for a reason. You just train the shaman until it dies. What if it uses a CD. You just dmg through it. What if they use a heal. They will just oom. What if they are getting healed. The healer will just oom.

I get enh/ele not having defensives. And the healing finally matters because it is huge. But there has to be a balance. You have to be able to cast enough to survive or have enough burst healing and burst dmg to turn the fight in your favor.

Give that 60-75% heal then that 50-65% HP dps burst to cause counter play for and against us.

Rogues
Stealth. Vanish. Gouge. Blind. Sap. Evasion. Cloak of Shadows. Cheap Shot. Garrote. Kidney Shot. On top of low CD heal. And Subs healing not to mention the free SnD HoT.

And you can do this with every class.
