Elemental Blast’s damage with the changes compared to now is night and day.
It also properly works with fire wolves now so you can double proc fire wolves for a meaty Sunder->EB combo.
Heck even though it was just a reduction from -50% to -35% hidden modifier for LB/EB/CL Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning are dealing noticeably more damage.
See this is what i don’t understand. Beta didnt get all these changes yet but live is getting them first? So their taking a part of the beta build and adding it to live now i guess. Icestrike buff on beta is different compared to this one, also we dont have the wolf buff or the windfury buff. The windfury is what concerns me because windfury got a pretty big buff on beta yet its not making its way to live based on these notes? Also the doom winds legendary was broken when windfury was doing 100% more damage and it was nerfed rightfully so but now windfury gonna do 240% more? Gonna break the legendary even further and we gonna get nerfed all over again.

windfury was massively buffed above this number (it was like 340% or somethin? idk i’m not gonna bother looking) and then quickly dropped back down after like 30 minutes when these changes first happened
The way that patch notes are stating percentages is confusing.
Like when they say that WF is being buffed by 240%, what they mean is that if WF does 100% now, it will do 240% after the buff. Which is really a 140% buff not a 240% buff. On live, each WF hit is 10% AP. After the patch it will be 24% AP.
Healing surge is actually getting a 100% buff, not a 50% buff since it’s going from a -50% aura modifier to no negative aura modifier which is an effective 100% increase in healing done.
Feral spirits is going to do 270% damage vs 100% on live - so a 170% buff or basically almost triple damage vs live.
It’s all the same as on beta now I think.
No beta is different. Windfury on beta is 24% with 3 additional instead of 2. Feral spirits didnt get the buff, the icestrike buff is 115% spellpower not 25%, and the 30% maelstrom change hasnt gone live on beta. Ima test the build on wednesday on beta to see if they updated it but they got 2 vastly different builds from retail and wow right now.
Beta is the same as what’s going live today.
Beta now and live after reset are both 24% AP on WF hits and WF is 2 extra hits, not 3. The third WF hit is only with the soulbind conduit and only a % chance.
Feral spirits did get the buff on beta. It wasn’t in the patch notes but it was immediately noticed by players and blizzard acknowledged it in in a blue post.
Ice strike is buffed by +75% on beta and in the patch notes going live today. The 115% spell power you are citing is the strength of the spell on beta now, after the 75% buff, which is what it will be on live after reset today.
The 30% buff to MSW spenders is also live on beta already. It was handled through changing the baseline spell aura from -50% to -35% so that instead of our spells starting at 50% and going up to 100% strength at 5 MSW stacks, they start at 65% strength and go up to 130% strength at 5 MSW stacks. So your spell strength still only doubles w/5 MSW stacks. But your baseline spells hit harder, meaning 5 MSW spells hit harder as well.
All of this stuff has been live on beta for a couple weeks now, but the way it was implemented and the way it’s discussed in the patch notes can be a little hard to follow.
New Shaman here, do these buffs make Enhancement viable to play? I’m still debating if I want to main Enhance or Ele for Shadowlands; I’m leaning Ele at the moment but I like the feel and gameplay of Enhancement. I may try Resto but it’s unlikely I’ll do it (never healed in retail before).
Ok so what your saying is the buffs their giving retail will have the same effect as the ones on beta. So the 240% buff on retail will bring windfury up to 24% ap equiv and the icestrike 75% will match the beta spellpower buff ok.
Well i have some bad news, the wolves are still pathetic and lightning bolt hits like a noodle still. Ele blast and healing surge are very good though so its looking like a mid tier spec.

Testing it on beta right now and the healing is really strong. I can go from 20% - 80% with a crit, lol.
I think the same thing that happened S1 in BFA is gonna happen now. They are gonna nerf our heals back into the ground and we’ll be useless for a whole expansion.
Give us defensive utility, giving us super strong heals is very tilting to the rogue/mages of the world they won’t allow us to have fun. Big numbers go, utility stays forever.
Other hybrids can do similar healing (go compare to a ret pally or resto affinity feral or shadow priest for example). Ele already crit heals for 250% and has stronger baseline healing surge and can instant duplicate a heal with echoing shock.
Damage is also pretty insane.
Seems like they are aiming for fast paced PvP with wild swings in healing and damage.
We still go down awfully fast in a stun.
And we still run out of mana after a few heals (a problem not shared by other hybrids).
Also, unlike w/BFA s1, we need 5 stacks of MSW for each instant heal and we don’t have insane extra damage from triple lightning PvP talents.

Why would anybody play enhance (melee) over ele (ranged, out of harms way) if they have the exact same abilities?
Because Enhancement’s AoE is significantly more flashy and cooler to look at. Also, Windfury hitting decent again, and hard with Doomwinds legendary.
Yeah, totally - nothing to see here. The vast majority of players aren’t in beta, but pffft they don’t need to know stuff.
Windfury itself is getting a huge buff (more than doubled), so Forceful Winds should providing even more damage than it was yesterday despite the nerf.
If they could at least make astral shift usable while stunned, I’ll be somewhat content.
I dont post often and saw the updates for today so played some yesterday and today… I still dont see the big dps buff honestly wf still hits like a wet noodle and you die in a stun so fast meh. sham need help
