Looking to start a new M+ character

Sure, but it’s still pretty simple with even a small amount of positional awareness. I had a tough time acclimating to other classes that lacked the mobility. Iceblock is kinda nice too lol.

My point was more-so just to not chase the current meta. The reason to go Mage is not that they’re the current meta… or even the 9.2 meta. They seem to always stick in some way, Mage is almost never bad, and that’s why they’re a good choice if you’re the type to play the meta.

But that’s what the OP is asking for. He said he doesn’t want to be crapped on because of his class.

Warlock has never been really really good in keys. Mage has.

I’m not going to argue semantics with you. Mage isn’t designed around invisibility.

I know it doesn’t. But what makes that being the only pure dps when there are three others that can’t tank or heals, which is the definition of a pure dps class.

What are you trying to argue anyway? Mage, Warlock, Rogue, and Hunter are all pure dps. You gotta be trolling.

I think the pet aspect changes their dynamic a bit, but I guess it doesn’t matter all that much. You guys are really sensitive about this lol.

Nobody is sensitive. You just aren’t making any sense rofl. Could’ve just admitted you don’t know what pure dps means.

You’re getting emotional. We just have different definitions of what it means. It surprises me that you’ve never heard of this before.

Destruction (maybe affliction?) doesn’t use pet. Rogue doesn’t use pet. MM doesn’t use pet.

Frost mage is just great for M+ unless it’s sanguine week. You have a ton of tools to control problematic mobs (dogs in HoA for example) to help the run. The class scales very well into higher keys too because of how the mechanics are in the toolkit.

It took me ~2 weeks to put a light forged Draenei to 205 Ilvl. I completely bypassed LFR and grinded gear and upgrades in korthia and M+. I also lucked into a quick nathria queue for my leggo and used soul ash and money from my main.

With the korthia 200 gear I was sitting around 3-3.5k as front in +2/3s. After leggo and hitting like 225 Ilvl I’m ending runs around 5-5.5k overall with plenty of interrupts and mechanics to boot. I rarely do less than 50% of explosive orbs, for example.

Very easy to play, tons of tools, felt so much better than dk. No real experience on any other classes in M+ seriously.

Go lock.

Every raid needs a summon and health stones.

They do fine in m+ too

Mage - portals out and cake
Lock - portals in and cookies

But on the serious side, I would suggest a class trial of both to see if you even like either. Both are casters, but with different play styles.

Personally, having mained a hunter in the past, I would run a lock for the pets and soul stone.

It’s become quite difficult to find groups, this late into the season. I would wait if you’re planning to push rating.

Mage because of timewarp. Lock brings a few good things to the table too, put you’ll get the invites because of timewarp.

It takes a week from hitting 60 to get to ~235 if you really put your mind to it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mage you will be whined at for providing tables

Warlock you will be whined at for providing healthstones

In M+, mages are superior to warlocks imho.

Don’t listen to these people aff lock absolutely pumps damage will beat frost mage every time

If those are your two options then go Mage. Warlock does nothing but restrict comp options because they don’t bring lust and Boomies are next in line to Mages on the totem pole. You’re going to struggle getting into keys in general as a Lock.

Now if you want to meta slave super hard then just play Windwalker. It’s easily the most uncontested broken spec in dungeons right now and you don’t even have to play it well to do good on it. Pretty much every group wants a WW.
