Looking to build a new PC

Hey all, I dont know a ton about building a PC, however, I do have expectations in hopes of how one might run. I would like to continue running shadowlands on the PC but with the graphics having the capability to be run on ultra. I would also like to potentially be able to stream, and maybe have music running in the background without it affecting my performance while playing wow. I do have a budget of say, 2k. Anyone out there kindly willing to lend some experience in this area to help me make a purchase, prebuild or specific parts?

Thanks in advance,

Try buying prebuilts. Graphic card prices are insane right now.

Example:

Or look for something like these

  • Intel Core i9-10900K (using Intel Quick Sync Video for streaming) (CPU)
  • Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 360 or EK AIO 360 D-RGB (Cooler)
  • Asus Prime Z590-A (Motherboard)
  • 16GB DDR4-3600 C16 X2 (RAM)
  • RX 6700 XT (MSRP $480) or RTX 3070 (Graphic card - MSRP $499) - For 2560 x 1440.
  • Corsair MP510 960GB or PNY CS3030 1TB (SSD)
  • Seagate 2TB (Hard disk)
  • Seasonic Focus GX 850W or NZXT C850 (Power supply)
  • Phanteks Eclipse P500A (Casing)

If you can’t find Core i9-10900K. Core i7-11700K is another option but it comes with less 2 CPU cores.

RTX 3060 Ti (MSRP $339) will get the job done for 1920 x 1080. You will need RTX 3080 (MSRP $699) or RX 6800 XT (MSRP $649) for 3840 x 2160. RTX 3080 handles 4k better. Also, Nvidia Nvenc smokes AMD codec for streaming just in case something goes wrong with Intel Quick Sync due to application issues. Quality is terrible on Radeon when it comes to streaming.

A Radeon 6800 is the sweet spot but from a GPU, get whatever you can get your hands. Intel’s new dGPU looking promising but their drivers are supposedly a trainwreck.

CPU wise a Ryzen 5000 or Intel 10th Gen and up will be more than enough.

While I normally suggest building as a default, based on parts availability, it’s a lot more stressful trying to acquire the parts which makes it not worth it for first timers.

Prebuild wisely and make self upgrades down the line is the way to go.

I bought an i7-10700k, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, a 1TB m.2 2280 SSD, a z590 mobo and a water cooler for about $1200. 2k will buy you a lot.
