Looking for an addon to mark gear

I have a helm that dropped that I want to use for next week after I get another charge of the tier creator. This one is a M+ helm that I will be able to upgrade farther than my current helm is, which was a lucky weekly quest chest drop.

So I’ll have to save up valor and change it to tier before I can use it.

Is there an addon that can mark it in my inventory so I don’t accidentally disenchant it or vendor it?

Not that I know of but not sure. You could always just move it into your bank until you convert it next week though.

Edit: while it would be unlikely to auto vendor it anyway, yoi can always add something to the “Not Junk” list if you use the addon Auto Vendor. Simply type /notjunk and link the item in chat.

This is more useful for older gear than current stuff. For instance it loves to auto vendor the various teleport rings from prior expansions.

That sounds like a crap addon if it auto-vendors anything except grays. Like imagine having a level sub 60 still wearing bfa gear and you equip a few BoEs after a mog run or mailing. Addon vendors everything deemed not SL-current next time you open a vendor.

There used to be an old as Fel addon that would enable you to add custom notes to item tooltips. No idea if it still works.

The most recent example I can find is this one, but it appears to be specifically for the Classic version of WoW:

There’s the Engravings addon, but it hasn’t been updated in like 12 years, so I have my doubts that it’ll work.

There might be something I missed, feel free to throw up a link of a better addon or solution to OP’s request.

The closest thing I can think of is the bag addon I use, arkinventory. It attaches the ilvl of the item onto the icon for it so when you open the bag it’s pretty easy to spot.

That’s not quite how it works. By default it’s set for certain ilvls and you can change it. I have mine changed to auto vendor gear below like ilvl 200 or something because I run a lot of old content. It has all sorts of toggles you can use to auto sell certain gear or not, it’s quite customizable.

You can add stuff to the Not Junk list so it won’t vendor it. Things like old teleport rings it will vendor because the add on doesn’t know why I have it in my inventory, it just knows that it’s an old ilvl equipment that 99% of the time I want vendored.

Edit: there’s way more depth and options to the addon than I mentioned here. Bt default it won’t sell transmog pieces or BoE stuff. There’s a lot more to, it’s honestly super handy. Give it a look sometime if you think about it! It also by default only sells stuff in batches of 12 so if it does vendor something you actually wanted you can buy it back.

I don’t know of an addon to do that, but I would love a way to mark “favorites” like we can with mounts and toys.
I accidentally D/E’d a piece of my speed set the other day and had to use the item restoration to get it back.

I used something called aardvark (yes odd name) back in legion cause I was a heavily disenchanter then.

It has a protect function. Unsure if works exactly like I thought back then because blizz changed item destroying at one time.

I would dedicate a bag slot in your bank to this type of stuff so you know where it is and it can’t get accidentally deleted.

What’s wrong with just tossing it in the bank? Use one of the extra bag slots at the bottom and put in a bag dedicated to future items. Instead of an addon protecting it, you instead protect the item behind a short trip and a few clicks.

The fact that I have the attention span of a goldfish and would promptly forget about it. I’m a pally for a reason. I’m so shiny that it keeps my attention.
