Im having the same problems as everyone else. Logging in takes 30 seconds to 1 whole minute now when it used to be only a few seconds. :confused:

I have mentioned several times in this thread that this issue started for me during Hallowā€™s End. I remember one day during that event many of us were having DC issues queing for the Headless Horseman dungeon and was forced to either down the boss with 1 or 2 people missing, or kick all the DCā€™d people and wait around until the group fills up again.

Here are a few threads I managed to pull up from the old forums, and Iā€™m sure there were several more here in Technical Support.

All of these threads are from Oct 24th.
What Iā€™m trying to get to here is - did Blizzard do something during the maintenance on Tuesday 23rd, or sometime soon after the 24th while trying to hotfix this DC issue that somehow messed up with their files, and are causing these issues we are having right now?

Just throwing it out there, because it might help Blizz getting to the bottom of this issue - wishful thinking, maybeā€¦ but I really am tired of wasting so much time staring at the long loading screen.

Is there anything else we are supposed to do to help a possible solution? I have been deleting the cache and WTF folders every day unfortunately.

Stick to one realm and you donā€™t have to touch your cache.

Deleteing cache hasnā€™t helped me at all :confused:

I really hope Blizzard founds at the problem because I have tried everything here and nothing seems to be helping the long load times.

Itā€™s been a few days after deleting cache and the issue is still cleared up. I have also not been switching to any realms and only playing on my main realm. If this didnā€™t temporarily fix it for you at least, it could perhaps be another issue similar to this.

We shouldnt have to do these things to temporarily fix it. Blizzard broke it and they shouldnt muck around fixing it. BFA seems to be more about lag than quality.

I have been having these problems too. There is a blue post somewhere in the forums that states they know itā€™s a client side issue.

My problems are when I hearth long load, logging on long load, swapping servers, loading into bgs, and the profession window pausing everything for about 5-6 seconds where I cant do anything.

Update:

We have a request in now to get this investigated with the information in this thread. Iā€™m keeping my eye on the investigation and weā€™ll let you know once we get more information. Thanks so much for all your reports and testing with me thus far. I think weā€™ve done some good ground work here to help narrow things down.

Just making sure you saw this post about slowly reading cache files in case something similar is also causing the other loading issues (i.e. WoW staying extra long on the loading screen after it hits 100%):

Yeah we also noticed some wonkiness with our DBCache.bin independently. It kept increasing in size each time we switched realms. The infoā€™s on the investigation. We arenā€™t sure if this is a cause or symptom, but it was odd so we thought it bore mention. Appreciate you pointing it out though.

Iā€™ve been having this issue for some time now (itā€™s one of two reasons I havenā€™t played in about two weeks or soā€¦) for awhile and it happens on initial login and any time Iā€™d try to switch servers. Loading into places wasnā€™t quite as bad, my issue is primarily on the char select screen.

This started about the same time as the second issue, which was the profession windows freezing the game for 1-2 seconds when you tried opening it. I was leveling my Magā€™har through Outland and getting some LW-related transmogs I didnā€™t have, so when the hitching started to happen, it was extra noticeable.

But yeah. Definitely not isolated. I wouldā€™ve posted before now, but I abhor the look and feel of these new forums. So Iā€™ve just sat in silence and not played at all.

Glad to hear this is being looked into. While I havenā€™t had it as bad as a lot of people, I have noticed that in any loading screen, the client will hang for a few seconds before getting into the game. Thatā€™s even with remaining on one realm and having a fresh cache.

Patch 8.1 is now live and should resolve issues with players experiencing an extended black screen on the character select screen.

If the issue does continue, please collect your DBCache.bin file. This can be found at: C:\Program Files(x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Cache\ADB\enUS\DBCache.bin

So, all my issues are cleared up. Of course, nothing changed on my system, so it must have been ā€¦ server side, like we thought ā€¦

In the future, can we forego the system shaming and get right to the part where the bug gets fixed?

Seriously, though. Thanks for getting what I hope proves to be a fix for all of us. We all deserve a pat on the back for helping to get to the core of the issue.
