So this is Lone Wolf’s culture after all ? I only know level check, but I didn’t know that there is gear-checking people for pre-40 level content. I never had a gear check for pre-40 on CS, so that’s my bad for not knowing LW’s culture. Do you need to farm prebis to join BFD on LW ?
Clearly there was not a gear check or he wouldn’t have been invited. On the other hand it is really toxic to expect strangers to carry you without doing any of your gearing yourself before entering group content. Also “pre-40” lol, you mean over the last few weeks? People trying to get into group content under geared has always been an issue.
It’s not about how much gold it’s worth. Each green could be 10 copper but someone consistently rolling need without any explanation looks like some greedy dude and would still tick people off. But if I was needing on like 5 greens, you’re damn right most people would at least say something, instead of letting people think you’re just an ahole. All you had to say was “this is also an upgrade.” People aren’t mind-readers. Also, you should have said that you only won 2 of the 5 rolls, since you gave the impression you had taken all 5 greens. This doesn’t have to be super complicated: people thought you were needing on everything, assumed you were greedy, they got ticked off, they kicked you, then moved on.
Luckily I don’t care about being “good” at a lvl 40 raid where bosses die in 30 secs ![]()
Maybe at lvl 60 I’ll attempt some easy mode PvE.
True enough. I wasn’t stealing or ninja loots, but I had to explain for things that I was doing right because people might feel pissed for possibilities of losing some silvers.
As I said, I have never seen that people got kicked for what they do need. The usual response is “hey, do you need those items ?” and let the other answer. But now I know there is a gear check for BFD on LW, lol. This is opening my eyes.
Meanwhile I main tank gnomer in green gear on Crusader Strike for pug. Lmao.
It’s… a level 25 instance. Are you actually dumb?
It is a level 25 raid and the trash drops under leveled greens. If those are upgrades, then you do not belong in that instance.
I am MT gnomer with lvl 25 items on my characters here, am I undergeared ? Gear check for BFD ? what a joke.
Go ahead and keep trying to justify trying to get carried by others without doing any of the prep to be in a raid or dungeon.
Lmao, sweatlord over easiest content is classic specialty. Being carried means if everyone in your group is performing like you, then that group can’t clear the content. For bfd, if you have to gear check to faceroll it as lvl 28+ and have full bis to do gnomer then that’s your skill issue. How’s about learn to play?
What prep?
BFD is, and was as current content, a joke.
10 players in all white gear can 100% beat it.
It sounds like you had to be carried and thus have an inflated idea of the difficulty.
Alliance LW here. Did BFD on my freshly dinged 25. No neck, almost exclusively all leveling greens. Nobody batted and eye. One shot the whole raid and needed whatever I needed. Greens or otherwise. Nobody said a thing or complained.
Basing everything on a single interaction as if it’s some kind of pattern is bizarre. Anecdotal evidence will always be anecdotal. If you had this happen several times, I could understand it, but in the same vein if you’re needing that many greens, and they aren’t worth much, why did you not just buy them off the AH ahead of time?
My first character on LW. I was saving gold for the expensive Ratchet rune, which is mandatory for shaman, I had barely 8g that time. And there was no reason to waste gold on them when I can get them from questing, dungeons, and BFD. The point is I needed what I needed, I did nothing wrong for needing them. My gear was from Wailing Cavern and some quests, so they are worse than green drops in the later areas of BFD. My level was 28 when I joined and I was 30 when I got kicked, so with that level, I wasn’t a burden or got carried by anyone.
So you had plenty of money. I am not saying that certain runes aren’t required, but needing 5 greens when they are level 15-18 greens that would probably run you under 1g seems a little much.
While I don’t disagree with needing things you need, needing practically everything because it’s a minor upgrade is kind of not exactly the same thing. Especially in a PUG.
Again, if you could get them from questing and dungeons, why not do those things before you join the BFD and try to take everything you can? Especially, things that you’ll replace 20 minutes later after the BFD since you’ll be a much higher level.
Again, did I do anything wrong for needing ?
“5 green items” is not “everything”, please don’t intensify the picture. And again, needing means you have to roll against others who also need on them, it doesn’t guarantee you to win that item. I did need 5 items because they were upgrades for me. And I absolutely had no reason to exhaust my little resource to clear a joke instance, nor to not do what I should have been legimately allowed to do.
Wrong in the eyes of the loot system used? No.
Wrong in the needing 5 consecutive greens? Potentially.
While I have no clue what greens you needed, if they were even for your spec (unlikely all of them where), I can say that doing so when you could just go quest or do a dungeon as you’ve said yourself seems a bit wrong. That or you should have clarified with the group about your status of having significantly lower item gear and you’ll be needing whatever is an upgrade. That way you’ve at least established the precedent that way.
Again, not saying you are necessarily wrong here, but it seems like there is a lot of truth stretching and using a single instance to condemn the whole community seems pretty suspect as well.
Strength and agility pcs.
Let me ask you, do you buy prebis on AH to upgrade your character before you joining a Deadmines or SM so that you don’t have to need on anything from those dungeons ?
So don’t be double standard to ask me to do so.
My gear mainly was from Wailing Cavern at that time, so any item drop from BFD was an upgrade for me. As I mentioned the only item I needed that wasn’t for my MS was a bracer with nature spell power which I already inspected that none in the raid needed before I hit the need button. I needed it because I wanted to try elemental.
And the way you guys are telling others to buy full gear from AH or to have prebis for a joke content like BFD is very suspect as well. I haven’t seen anyone telling others to be fully geared for BFD in phase 2 on CS.
Needing on 5 greens in a BFD run is a lot. That’s like everything that drops. I know there is an XP buff right now, and it’s just leveling content at this point, so I could see this going either way in a pug raid, but that’s a lot to need.
You’re obviously not putting much effort into gearing your toon while leveling, or getting “raid ready,” but again, it’s level 25, leveling content at this point, so… I could go either way. Needing 5 items though in a non-guild run where you’re getting carried is a lot.
Who knows. For sure, there are likely some differences in culture between factions and servers, but I’d be apprehensive to make blanket judgements based on a single experience, particularly where you were being what might be considered a “rude guest.”

Dude has 1 bad raid with one bad raid leader and is now trying to extrapolate it to the entire server? Is this alliance culture?
Yes, I try to buy as many appropriate level items I can. You don’t need to be fully BIS to enter any of these, but I do check the AH often and search for deals/upgrades.
I spent 28g that I had been saving for my paladin’s engineering shield mats so that I could go into my guild raid as a shockadin. That I played once. I am otherwise all in Prot gear that I bought on the AH as necessary or earned through the raid.
When I did the BFD on my druid, I went to the AH and grabbed a couple of greens. Bought a Of the Falcon ring for under a gold. Just so I would have a semi adequate amount of gear going in.
For the record, I never once told you to go buy full BIS. I said it would be the polite thing to do not to need on every minor upgrade because you can.
