Lol. Random Youtuber Beats Blizz Animators:

Heh, you know what’s funny? I used to have a few 3D modeling programs to mess about with, simply because the UI was pretty clean and not a total confusion like with Blender. I only used it just to play the sculpting feature. Otherwise, it’s just Google Sketchup (for general messing about) and Milkshape 3D. (I was into The Sims 3 modding, it was sort of needed.)

Now a days, i’m blending always. GTA mods? Blender. The Sims 3? Blender. Fallout/Skyrim? Blender. Anything? Blender. And all the other programs just became alien to me. It’s like my brain flipped the switch on me or something after using it for a good long time.

If only my child self knew.

I’ve Nifscope as well, but i don’t know how to make model edits on there. Just use it to change shaders/textures on here and there for my Skyrim/Fallout 4 mods.

Blizz goofing on facial animations

Meanwhile one dude on youtube

Also one dude on youtube

This same dude also switched to Blender but is still trying to get that 2d look which is quite impressive

( Also fun tidbit with the 2nd vid. Watch Fox’s button presses and the screen. The ship in the game matches. That’s so cool to go out of the way to animate that )

Fans and machinima artists have been doing some pretty good stuff with in-game models and 3D software for ages now, even before the addition of the WoD models. This was made 12 years ago for example:

Old machinima kinda makes me nostalgic for the VERY early Red Vs Blue shorts. Sure the motion cap stuff was cool when it got to that point. But there was just something charming with guys just fiddling with Halo and finding out ways to make it all work. Like using bullet holes on the floor to mark where they want the player to move since back then you had to aim your gun down to the floor to wobble their heads up and down to show they are talking.

sometimes when using others work and changing to tastes you can ghetto it with materials editor. YOu just nuke transparency affecting values to make things disappear.

Its there…but not seen.

yeah its used to make nude armour for those into that. But some armour you get lucky and you can nuke that small accessory hang on out of sight you just don’t like.

tmw someone tells me something subjective is better than something else subjective.

I take your Sailor Moon Garrosh and raise you this gem

I need to download this video somehow lol.

Look at all these people who have no idea how animation works trying to compare an ancient in game engine to dedicated animation software.

You go girls.

The models were, literally, created with the rigging for full lip movements and expressions.

Someone didn’t even bother to make animations properly for them in the cutscenes.

Wow, this looks really good! Wait, so Jaina isn’t supposed to look like a discount pizza shack animatronic like she currently does?

Jaina’s ready for those Blizzard in-game animations of

“AnDuiN”

Except the models are actually rigged for animation including the face.

And yet they don’t bother because they’re lazy. That’s the issue.

We agreed on something. World’s ending. Run.

Heh. It happens. I may not have the skills for animation but I do watch a few artists. So I know bits and bobs.

Heck Blizz even showed at previous blizzcons all the bones in our toons faces. Yet they stick to default animations which is silly in my opinion.

I have no skill in the relevant area, but get this. I have a 3D artist friend who’s cool enough to walk me through the processes since I’ve hired him to do some work for a character of mine.

I’ve learned quite a lot about why high-polygon is cheaper and low-polygon is more expensive (don’t tell the people coming in why, just let them wonder why something that sounds better is cheaper >:D).

It’s a bit funny watching one artist work on stuff. The fella I’m always sharing his animation tests here.

There’s just something funny about artists not animating something because “If it’s out of frame IT DOESN’T EXIST”
