there is no such thing. we called those people ‘essential workers’ not long ago

would you believe me if I say I make 30-55$/h? lol no degree.
How anyone earns less than 150k/year these days never ceases to amaze me. Guess school was just too hard.
so whos going to make sure gas stations are still pumping and keep grocery stores open then
do you really not understand that we NEED people to work these jobs and to be able to afford to live in our cities? or are you that propagandized by corporate media
is it because you make 15 an hour? you know if they raised minimum wage to 15(they wont) your job would have to raise your wage too to compete
this literally means nothing
yea you dont get it and are just strawmanning
we NEED people to work those jobs so they NEED to be able to afford to live in cities
if an employer isnt paying their workers a living wage then you and me pay for their food stamps and assisted living
youve been so propagandized you just accept subsidizing poverty wages. its hilarious
So? Minimum wage is supposed to allow those “unskilled” workers to make a living wage. $7.50 an hour is in no way a living wage.
That person is a troll. Don’t feed it. (That forum poster went on my ignore list a while ago lol).
At this point I’m almost certain you’re trolling.
I award you the Necro Lord of the Day award.
Why are you awarding bad behavior?
Its me being ironic. Humour, an often difficult concept…
the ones already making $20 currently might want a raise too since they do a more difficult job than the ones making $12 is the problem…
12 dollars an hour for an entry level position with no skills required is not bad for Texas where the minimum wage is almost half that. When you learn how the real world works then you can come back and pass an opinion.
If you look at even just Apartment pricing in Austin, nope. Good luck finding anything under 1k that’s not ‘per person’ or ‘per bedroom’ IE sharing with 2-3 people. Just shows that minimum wage is not a livable wage in the first place, curious that!
You’re never going to make a “living wage” off of an unskilled job.
Most people in ‘skilled jobs’ couldn’t actually live off of the amount ‘unskilled jobs’ get paid and would quit after a week or two in the first place. Most ‘skilled jobs’ are just from certs/degrees that have a cost requirement to get in anyways and then getting hired can be more social circle based than skill based.
the ones already making $20 currently might want a raise too since they do a more difficult job than the ones making $12 is the problem…
whats wrong with that?
australias current minimum wage is 20.33
a country we economically dwarf figured it out. AND they have universal healthcare
it’s degrading to those who have the education and experience to earn more than the minimum wage.
why do we always cater to the bottom? where’s the incentive to not be borderline incompetent.
You’re never going to make a “living wage” off of an unskilled job.
When the minimum wage was established, it legally HAD to pay a living wage, because the masses were being literally worked to death.
it is 7.25
How does someone live off that? Thats insane.
You’re never going to make a “living wage” off of an unskilled job.
*in america.
I was making 21.50 working in a gas station… 20 years ago. America is messed up and you should not be proud of your broken system. A person should be able to make a living wage from an unskilled job. Not everyone can be a doctor there is always a need unskilled jobs. more so than skilled jobs.
