Locked servers are blizzard’s way of marking it’s failure to manage their product! Blizzard is just a run of the mill business quick money now to boost quartile growth for long term damage down the road.

Blizzard is the best in the world – literally. Vanilla WoW got more customers – by far – than any other MMO in the world. Without “managing”.
Yet Straws claims that Blizzard’s lack of “managing” a copy of Vanilla was a “failure”.
Who should I believe? The most succesful company in history, or Straws? I mean, those are nice tusks, but…
I half-way read this. Saw two locked servers and thought I’d finally be able to join my friends’ Classic guild on a locked server. Nope… it’s still locked. XD Should’ve read the whole thing.
Have you ever heard of a company named Comcast just because you are large dosen’t mean you put out a good product or make the best decisions.
This exact same thing just happened to me. I had my names reserved for Fairbanks and wanted to start playing. I had randomly made them as Horde in the rush to reserve the names at launch. I deleted them to reroll as Alliance… now I’ve lost my names, I can’t create new characters, I can’t restore them, and I can’t play. Wow.
Pick another server. You’ll be fine.
Yep. That is what 'locked" means. You understand it well.
If you don’t like those rules, find a better solution to over-crowded “queue” servers during a pandemic. We would all be happy if you find a better solution.
A better solution would be to still consider you eligible for new characters on the server if you’ve previously had a character on the server in the last one hour. Or at the very least present a dialog box before deleting the last character on a server that it’s locked and you’ll be unable to create a new one.

I play maybe 1-3 hours a week total and during low demand times with my friends and recently managed to convince two of my other friends to join us only to find this locked server crap. To say that I am upset is an understatement.
I don’t want your pity or ideas like ‘transfer to a low pop server’. I just want your understanding.
I have to say that I am disappointed to the point of quitting. We are going to play World of Warships instead.

I’m sry but how much money do they pull in. you’re really telling me they can’t make the server bigger I just don’t get it. or make like a sever within another server like two severs with the same name and use phasing to make them seem like 1 big server
Blizzards pathetic attempts to handle server Q’s. Their solution is kill the patient with the cure.

No it don’t
Typically when Blizzard locks a servers so that no new characters can be made it’s because they plan on merging the servers and are giving people a chance to transfer off of them. This is typically done when a server population has dwindled to the point where it just isn’t financially viable to keep the server active anymore.
