Good for you. You got what you wanted, so maybe just stop taunting those who didn’t and go be happy with your life.
Because I like being able to raid as the class and spec I want. Without some gatekeeper forcing compliance to a particular raiding meta.
We didnt have it all of Cata and the game never died. It only recently got overtaken by Fresh and by a few k.
For the community, I like that it provides a way for people who can’t or don’t want to commit to a dedicated raid team to see the content
On a personal level, I don’t actually care about LFR itself at all. I’ve got a raiding team, it ultimately means nothing to me. What disgusts me is the idea of watering down everything that made the legendary a legendary by making it farmable through dungeons
LFR was the only reason I ever raided in the first place. It was done well enough in MoP that after I was did them on LFR I had more confidence to try them normal and started raiding with a guild. I’ve been hyping up LFR to my wife and friends (We’re in a small, 5 person guild with no plans on expanding into a raiding guild) and we were all looking forward to it. It’s one of the reasons MoP is my favorite expansion. Pretty disappointed at the news and it will likely cut down my playing time and amount of alts I play.
it was fun taking characters i didn’t plan on playing too much into the raid, and to see the raid from a different perspective than my main.
it also helped alts that i did plan to play a lot of to get the legendary cape mats when i couldn’t get into a pug that week on them
But the thing is LFR is not Raiding its just a large group of random players put into the instances where actual raiding takes place. Raiding means coordinated, communicated groups of people that have to do things in proper orders and execute on mechanics to overcome challenges. LFR meets NONE of that criteria.
And to pretend that LFR isn’t toxic and filled with bad players insulting each other and stacking up that determination buff to 10 and getting free loot with 10-15 people afk is just delusional.
Biggest thing for me was just being able to queue for a wing if I had like an hour to play.
Just because it doesn’t fit with your arbitrary definition doesn’t mean it isn’t raiding. You go into the raid instance with 24 other people and fight the bosses that make up the raid
Just because you are in a large group with 24 other players doesn’t mean the activities you are doing is Raiding.
Raiding is coordinated, communicated challenges that are overcome by people who execute on mechanics with a higher level of performance required than open world bosses or mobs. LFR doesn’t meet that criteria.
Correct
It’s being in a group with 24 other people specifically in the raid instance fighting the raid bosses that makes it raiding. Everything else you mentioned is arbitrary and irrelevant
Incorrect. Its not actual raiding and the developers who implemented it in the past have even admitted that its not raiding. In fact, they even said they should have named it something other than LFR because it doesn’t meet the criteria for what raiding is supposed to be.
Again, LFR is not raiding. You might be in the raid instance, but what you’re doing inside of it is not raiding. You’re just hitting target dummies and loot pops out.
No, I’m correct
By your logic, a raid group that has become familiar enough with the content to no longer need discord is no longer raiding because they aren’t actively communicating anymore
Read what I said. The developers even admitted its not raiding lol. You’re just delusional and think its actual raiding, when its just 25 idiots banging on target dummies.
I did
Hey pot, name’s kettle
It really just boils down to playing when I can and not committing to a 4-6 hour raid. If i remember, LFR broken up in wings.
Exactly. Setting up a traditional raid for a single wing here or there is impractical and unrealistic. With raid finder, you queue for a wing whenever you can.
It’s certainly not wiping to the boss because the person who queued up as a healer refuses to spec out of retribution.
It’s certainly not getting all those whispers any time an item drops demanding that I trade it.
Impractical yes, unrealistic no. We have done this already, that is what Flex in SoO was. The 10-30 raiding split into wings. You’d queue up with the raid group you put together.
If we get flex from the start, I will not complain at all. Favorite mode.
