No I am Mary Sue!
Nathanos isn’t perfect at all. Nor is he a self-insert.
Self-insert =/= Mary Sue
Nathanos has very obvious attitude problems, Mary Sues would never be intentionally rude to anyone.
Oh, my sweet summer child.

If I recall correctly there two definitions of a Mary Sue.
One of them being author proxy, the other being pure powerful perfect to the point of cringe for want of a better definition.
So, who is perfect and always polite, not to mentioned belovéd by all?
Alleria…
Nomi!
(giggles and ducks behind couch to hide)
Anduin is the only Mary Sue I can think of, he was literally handed a black dragon when the plot needed it.
I mean, that’s just in Wrathion’s character. He’s really fond of Anduin.
Yeah. And guess what? None of that is evidence that he’s a self-insert. You quote Danuser out of context when all those tweets were made prior to anybody knowing Sylvanas was a villain, and was purely for the sake of drumming up excitement for BFA.
You people have your tinfoil hats on too tight. Even then, how does Nathanos fit any of the other descriptions of a Mary Sue? Because you only listed one. That doesn’t make him a Mary Sue even if he was.
Thus you misused Mary Sue yourself. Nice.
Are you talking about the annoying Sense 8 character?
That’s a good example of self-insert.
How is it not? He’s the lead director tweeting as a character that looks just like him. What a coincidence!
Alright Caelus. This made me chuckle. You’re alright.
He tweets about all of his characters, look it up.
They aren’t mutually exclusive. In fact, mary sues are a hallmark of bad writing.
As I think about Mary Sues would our characters not be seen as the biggest Mary Sues of all? We are out there killing gods, coming back from the dead and making out like bandits. At this point we are like a crazed Captain Planet, our faction leaders are the Planeteers.
Thrall lost to Garrosh. Nobody can change my mind. Garrosh got killed by a Mary Sue.
I feel like Mary Sue is term that’s being tossed around willy nilly and it’s starting to lose its meaning. Not every character in the lore is a Mary Sue, guys.
Indeed they are. And they’re not mutually-exclusive. I just find it silly when people argue that one character is a Mary Sue when all of their enemies and friends are also Mary Sues.
We so, totally are.
Absolutely.
