I always mention my level when I do a LFG post. That solves the problem. If I say “level 20 lfg DM” (on an Alliance toon) I clearly mean deadmines. If I am looking for a Dire Maul group, I’d better be a whole lot higher.
You can always tell the people who didn’t play vanilla.

This is a server specific thing. Back then each server could have it’s own culture and terminology, you can see this by reading old wowhead and thotbot comments. On Maelstrom realm in vanilla Deadmines was always VC.
For Dire Maul you also need to specify which wing(s) you want.
VC is not a boss or a dungeon. Edwin VanCleef’s initials are EV. My father’s last name is McDonough, yes with the capital letter (he’s Irish), and yet his initials are JM, not MD, not even JMD.
If his first name was Walter, he could be WMD.
