Linking servers with WrA

The only actual argument is going to be server stability.

Server lore is moot since MOST people that play on the server do not care about the projects. They are a blip of people, as most projects are filled with tons of alts or a vanity thing for their guild.

Let’s cut through the noise; people don’t want it merged because they jumped servers to avoid someone or something, and they don’t want to deal with it. Both servers have a lot of old-school drama and hurt feelings.

There is an entire new cross-faction guild thing, first of it’s kind in the game. With the servers linked, WRA horde and MG alliance or vice versa, MG Horde WRA Alliance, or any combination thereof, have the potential to form an entire new community like horde has and like alliance has, but as a joint effort to create and build out a whole new RP community that was mostly non-existent before.

So you found some people you don’t like, add them to the ignore list.

That’s something a select few people will need to move past. Stop holding grudges and get over it for the greater good. Or use the ignore button.

Japan and the US have a rough history, but they acknowledged their mistakes and worked to better themselves and move past it to have a much stronger relationship.
While it might be a more extreme example, it’s proof of concept.
People have a wonderful ability to get over things, acknowledge their mistakes of the past, and move forward.

First off, a comparing the divide between MG and WrA to U.S/Japan history is not equivalent. U.S and Japan literally fought against each other in a war in which hundreds of thousands of people died, amidst other atrocities committed by both sides. So let’s not equate that to the divide between Moon Guard and Wyrmrest. Secondly, you might find it hard to believe, but some folks do not get over things such as harassment, abuse, and stalking, all that have been done by folks who have fled to WrA from MG, especially once their bad acts became public knowledge. Now, is it likely that folks from WrA fled here for the same reason, perhaps, but I have no knowledge of such things, so I try not to speculate. Also, in regards to your japan/us comparison, Japan teaches revisionist history, so let’s be more careful in the future about such things, hmm?

Also, to respond to the HMP there, it may be fine and good to ignore said projects, for, as the saying goes, your 15 dollars a month. But those folks who run the projects dedicate many hours to cultivate those groups of people by providing an environment for cooperative roleplay, which could easily be harmed by a large influx of folks who will either not understand, or not respect that effort, or try to overtake such projects in disingenuous ways.

You’re right, it is worse than whatever people went through in MG/WRA and they STILL worked to move past it. That’s kind of the whole point.

That’s a very bold assumption to make. Perhaps you forget that the people who attend those events are already on the server, or alts from the other, and most of them are choosing to attend said event on purpose, for whatever reason, be it they were there in a past event, or they want to learn a new RP style, or they just want some RP in general because it’s been hard to find on their server. These are just a few examples of the multitude of reasons they could have. Yet to say they are all only there to do harm is just hyperbolic.

I really don’t think there is any major difference between the servers and linking them would have next to no impact aside from expanding the player base to a small degree. Both servers have bad apples, both servers have cringeworthy and low quality roleplay depending on when and where you look.

The barrier doesn’t exist because dropping $20 to transfer is nothing to begin with.

I honestly appreciate everyone’s input on this topic.

I have seen all the reasonings people are stating and whether I may agree with it or not, I truly value everyone’s input on the matter.

Everyone’s opinion is as valid as the next and I love you all regardless.

In comparison to MG. Yeah. Because there are hundreds of you at all hours. We have a small comunity but have actually been gaining more folks! We arent dead yet. And are working to bring stuff back around and show an active face. Its slow. But every day is a step forward, and away from the rumor and stereotype that we do not exist.

My stance is the mindset X server is for X faction RP and Y server is for Y faction RP needs to be go. It was never like that but some people got real set that this is the way it has to be.

MG and WRA had a pretty healthy faction balance, numbers skewed towards one more than the other but it was still a fairly decent balance that you could find people to RP with.

I used to RP on MG as Horde during MoP and the start of WoD. There was an active SMC and an active Valley of Strength. I moved to WRA because the timezones it is fits better for my schedule.

Then I RPd as Alliance on WRA and Stormwind, Iron Forge and Darnassasus had active RP, though IF and Darn was slightly more scheduled based.

Then for some reason folks got real stuck on, if you play the blue faction you have to be here and if you are the red faction you go here.

It’s better for everyone to have two healthy RP servers than one mega RP server. I wish we never got warmode because then ED would still probably be kicking too which would have given people three options to choose from.

As others have said, there are communities for both factions on both servers and disregarding them as they are is not fair.

Would be fine with it on the condition that sharding can be manually-changed and the user can view population for each shard. Though would more just prefer cross faction interaction to exist for anything outside of actual PvP i.e. rping in cities and stuff. The timezone issue is a good point some people have mentioned too, and possible lag stuff.

As a former Sentinels player, the linking only happened to smaller servers specifically. MG and WrA are both large enough they weren’t involved in any of that.

But uh, no on merging with WrA. While some of my old Sentinels friends did go over there, its also been the only server where people have gone to downright try to dox my friends.

If anything, WrA needs to see what it can do about its Alliance side (much like we had projects on helping out Horde-side). But frankly, I just don’t think it’ll work because there is absolutely bad blood between the two servers

We have some projects actually! And has been working well if not slowly. Its a good idea and im glad we have been following that road. There is one project set up rn but i have heard rumor of another on the way.

Personally, I think it would be neat to have MG and WRA be one big server, like completely merged. I think that it would be neat to have one big FACTION, completely merged. It’s an unpopular notion, unfortunately, but if it was up to me there’d just be one big RP server with everyone on it, and everyone could interact with everyone without preplanned events, language potions, addons and server anchors.

In the meantime I will live out my RP hippie dreams at the TOA soon enough!

Just saying, nothing is stopping WRA players from rerolling to MG. There is an EXP bonus atm that makes leveling faster. Soon we will be able to send gold and items across servers to ourselves.

WRA players who want this merger badly, could just make a character on MG and level it.

I wouldn’t mind a merger but honestly I wish it were easier to “visit” servers outside of the taxis. That way for the folks who do want to take part in both they don’t have to rely on one thing or another.

Big agree, I would love the ability to visit the other server and attend their community events without an anchor. I think that would be step one in fostering a more healthy relationship between the servers.

But why give up all the people on WrA to join up with the detailed guild and group plots and events on MG?

Why give up on the people on MG to go to a server with higher casual low-entry walk-up content?

Why not have both? That’s my point of view

Nothing stops whole guilds and groups from moving over. Guilds have moved servers before. Right now is a great time to relocate to MG from WRA, the EXP bonus makes leveling fast and easy.

Yeah but…why, if we’re talking pie in the sky fantasies, not instead just have both in the same place?

Then someone could log in, hang out on their main involved character who participates in deeper plot and events through their guild or organization, in a populated Orgrimmar or Stormwind for a couple hours watching people, reading profiles, interacting, meeting people, getting people interested in their guilds and organizations with their presence.

Then, when their scheduled guild/group event starts they could bop over to the proxy location and participate. All on one server! Horde and Alliance! Living together in a living world, mingling but still having their planned meta-events and plots! Playing out their characters’ lives holistically without workarounds and switching between servers and factions and rolling new characters, with the casual socialization and plot and events.

MG Horde is peanut butter and WRA Horde is jelly (and MG-A is bread and WRA-A is peanut chunks but now the metaphor is getting complicated). If we could, if it was possible, why not mush them all together into a delightful sandwich instead of having to choose one ingredient?

If you make the argument that the two biggest RP realms should be merged so we can all play together, what’s stopping other RP realms from wanting to be merged with MG as well? I mean, if it’s good for the goose (WrA), it’s good for all the ganders (all other RP realms). At that point, I think it would become a laggy, overcrowded mess. I pretty much stopped playing on ESO because their “mega-server” concept meant I always had lag, and merging all RP realms on WoW would essentially become something very similar.

We might wish for convenience in the short run but there are lots of other factors to consider when making changes like this.

If WRA Horde players want a merger so bad, nothing is stopping them from rerolling onto MG. A merger isn’t required.
