It’s too late for TBC. The high availability of raid gear, and the relative power level for certain classes to leverage it, have caused a drastic shift in arenas for the worse. This problem will continue into Wrath and further invalidate an already fragile arena system.
PvP gear should be for PvP. PvE gear should be for PvE.
Who cares about arena. PvP gear shouldn’t be usable in PvE.
On second thought I support your argument.

We too late for no changes now that i think about it
dont think devs will do anything this drastic tho
I kinda like the approach taken in retail. PvP gear is scaled down during PvE play. Its still good and quite useable in PvE, but its not dominating.

Does gear still have resilience in retail? PvP gear is imbalanced in TBC and you’re just a detriment to the raid in Wrath with it due to resil taking up a stat slot.
Nah, in retail they use versatility, which is just a flat damage reduction/dps boost. It’s the “pvp stat” but it’s also the tank stat, and in the case of some classes, a pretty decent stat to aim for.
PvP gear can still be decent enough in pve if you’re not super sweaty about it, and especially on a freshly leveled character, it can often outperform heroic or phase 1 gear.

No, but it does have versatility which isn’t always the best stat for PVE.
A good compromise would be to disable legendaries and PVE trinkets in PVP.
Also weapon procs, I’d rather not have another stunherald situation. Enchants are fine.

This would definitely drastically change the S8 PvP meta since so many physical classes rely on PvE armor pen gear for pvp. Would result in S8 being 100% caster cleaves only IMO.
Pretty sure TSG and Beastcleaves will be present with or without legendary weapons giving them free glad ranks.
You do realize the stormherald proc is terrible right? The thing constantly stunning you is the mace specialization talent. Stormherald stun almost never procs and DR’s with mace stun so by the time it does they are already immune.
Wrath already changes resilience to be more effective vs players and less effective vs mobs.
If you go into Arena with raid gear on… You’re probably going to get your teeth kicked in by someone in full RES gear.

NOOO NO PVE GEAR IN PVP!!!
tell me you’ve never played WOTLK without telling me you’ve never played WOTLK
protip: if you enter arena with 0 resilience you will get globaled

PvP gear is not even remotely good in Raid excluding a couple items tanks want and pvp trinket on a couple fights

Some classes do indeed benefit from a mix of PvP and PvE gear.
mmm yeah that was my point, thanks for agreeing

Some tanks need pvp gear to reach defence cap easier so they build threat pieces, unless you like throttling your Dps and getting one shot every time you crit.
i wouldnt mind just removing all the stamina from the sunwell gear for every class like they did warriors so that we dont have to deal with 4/4 locks, mages, druids, ROGUES.
This thread alone is a serious outing of people who obviously didn’t play PVP in wrath. If you went into a random BG without res, you got flattened. No exceptions.
Also, I think everyone who didn’t get a weapon drop in the first week or two of raiding ground arena points or honor to fill gaps. They were usually better than the previous tier. Same for misc armor. For some classes it was better to get a higher piece with more of your primary stat and gem and enchant it.
Not saying it was optimal, but it was a viable stopgap until your filled that slot.
