Clockwise, and then when I mess up and lose my buff or step on a slime I go counter clockwise to finish.
Don’t look at me like that. I don’t care if I mess up. There’s no consequence for failing!

You will get credit for it by going either direction. I have done both just to check it out.
Thinking about it, I realize it is consistent with my being the least consistent human ever and I don’t go the same way each time. I like this WQ though. It’s a nice improvement on the mana saber one.
Whichever way I walk up to the first pillar, I keep going in that direction. It’s usually clockwise because that’s the direction from the flight path near that WQ. If I was doing another WQ in the area though, and walk up to it from the other side, I’ll go clockwise. It’s all about saving time, even if it’s only a few seconds. 
It’s quicker if you go clockwise!

I’ve always done clockwise but I’m not really sure why. I think I’m just usually headed that way at the start after running down from the flight master.
Clockwise, so I end near the pick up for Bet on Yourself/Skull fetch quest.

Either way. Just avoid being slimed.
First time I did it counter clockwise. The second time I did it clockwise. I haven’t done it anymore since world quest rewards are pretty much garbage for me.

Yep, one of the least painful world quests in Shadowlands. Maldraxxus has another equally easy quest, where you have to “tame” that 2-headed bat thing. Both of those quests take under 2 mins to do.
