Everything but the letter from Blizzard’s lawyers to the devs is a nice story to tell children to sell games.
Nice fable, but the Nostalrius devs (and Blizzard’s) both talked about the meeting(s) that the two held and the close work the teams had. There’s a great chance that at least some of the devs from Nostalrius work at Blizzard now specifically for Classic.
Again, I am very thankful to them. I don’t take it for granted that Blizzard would never have made Classic if not for them.
I enjoy how people rationalize that since they aren’t the ones explicitly buying gold, just obtaining it through GDKP laundering, that they aren’t at all part of the gold buying epidemic in classic.
lol
Don’t join those raids. Problem solved.
Better prices!
Actually, the design team is to blame. GDKP’s thrive only when raid content is easy or alternative means to gearing don’t exist. Typically a combination of the two.
By attempting to give us an ‘authentic’ tbc experience, they’ve done the exact opposite.
Raids should have been made much harder than they currently are. Or offered different difficulty tiers of raiding to minimize the impact of gdkps on the game. Just look at the current Illidan fight. Players are skipping an enter phase of encounter. The mechanic is completely ignored. A common problem going all the way back to classic 2019.
Bosses need tuning, yet blizzard does not tune. Why?
It wasn’t very common. Maybe on big servers it was? I was in a top guild from Vanilla - Cata and we never once sold a boost. We would gear up applicants and new people the old fashioned way by playing the game.
The blue parsing rogue that’s kinda kitted doesn’t see an issue with P2W in tbc.
Shocking lol
Hyjal and BT is a noticeable step down in difficulty. Prior to launch some people were speculating people would not be prepared for the end bosses, but coming from a guild who just barely got Vashj down before the big T5 nerfs…yeah it’s faceroll. Illidan is the only difficult boss at this point and that’s going to get easier each week with more gear.
The fact that GDKP pugs are rampant in T6 doesn’t surprise me even a little bit.
Classic isn’t P2W outside of the few paid features it has like xfers and a level boost. There’s no Blizzard sanctioned vehicle to buy gold with money to turn it into gear.
Yes, people are buying gold, but that’s just cheating at that point and there is a difference. Blizzard needs to do a better job policing it because people making their own legitimate gold to spend on gearing up is totally fine, it’s not on Blizzard to regulate the community in this regard.
I get your point… blizzard itself doesn’t host the the P2W like they do in retail with the coin…
However, by giving minor slaps on the wrist for .01% of the gold buying community that is essentially allowing full P2W in the game. It is so incredibly easy to dodge their bots that check for gold purchasing… its kind of a joke. Most people who buy gold will NEVER see a ban. Ever.
the gdkp
a gross fun-sucking practice
so glad it is gone
Just perma ban gold buyers. Problem solved. No buyers. No incentive to bot. Banning bot can only do so much. It is really easy to level new bots thanks to the boost
