LFG Addon - an extensive look (it’s very bad!)

Not being passive aggressive at all. Just sharing some info I found. There seems to be a very weird information campaign in favor of this add-on happening on these forums, that doesn’t quite align with reality. The add-on and everything surrounding is shady af. I would advise people to not touch it with a 10 ft. pole.

Quoting my full quote:

Why were you spreading misinformation these past two days, Starman?

The addon developer stated in that half quote you posted that the auto invite won’t be in the live version for classic.

The videos are just streamers manufacturing drama for views.

Some people would like that. They can go play ffxiv if they want a locked down ui with no native dps meter without having an external program to intercept traffic from the client to the servers.

Not personally, but I think I would prefer that option to having a LFG feature in Classic WoW.

Well, someone wrote it, and is actually doing a good job of accommodating the criticisms. But of course you don’t see that.

And everyone and their dog can still choose to use the auto-invite feature if they want. Not only can they just download it now and not update it, but you can go to Files on curseforge and download a previous version.

Poor argument.

So then Suu can remove that version if he likes. RIGHT? Right.

Then say what you found and with the offending/questionable lines and/or files.

And what about the other 12k that have already downloaded it?

What’s stopping me from throwing it up on my GitHub for the whole world to download regardless of what the author wants? That’s open source for you.

Here is the way I see it. Without a lfg add-on in game I will be using discord or messaging friends only to form groups. Not spamming channels with thousands of people posting in them. Without an add-on in game, you will segregate people from grouping with one another due to the methods of grouping in game not being efficient.

The addon dev stated that today on a fast moving thread after the video was made.

Honestly shows a lack of judgement that he included so many offensive features in the first place.

The past versions are available for download so there’s nothing preventing players from downloading the version with the auto invite in it.

You’re worrying about nothing. I’m sure Blizz could ban a version of an addon if they want.

Look FORWARD not back.

Saying Blizzard doesn’t need to break a feature because people won’t use it is a horrible argument.

It’s honestly not even worth debating as that principle doesn’t stand in the software community.

Saying Blizzard should break a feature because some people don’t want it, is also a terrible argument

Absolutely. They could choose to ban just the auto invite feature only breaking the older versions.

You completely ignored what Baskervilles said, and pushed your own narrow agenda.

Suu is trying to make this work so that everyone’s happy and all you’re doing is making an OLD version look bad.

Be a man and report on the NEW version when it’s out.

Hmm, no, because then you break auto-invite for guildies.

Only the 6.0 version, the newest one works on Classic. The other 4.7 version doesn’t seem to show up in the add ons at character screen if you try to use it.
