LFD, Blizzard is lying

LFD needs cross realm to function properly.

If this were true, don’t you think they would remove the boost restriction as well?

99% of WoW’s growth was in vanilla and tbc. WotLK grew 500k after the launch hype and then stagnated. It declined for the very first time in ToC. If you think nobody had any issues with LFD back then you either didn’t play back then or are lying to yourself. It was a controversial feature of the time, it’s a shame the old forums from back then no longer exists to link.

Just like now a handful of people whined about it but most people were very happy with it, same with CRBG’s.

Nostalrius is what persuaded blizzard to do it, because they proved the old school model had the audience. WoW had a steady decline from cataclysm onward, they lost millions in cataclysm alone who were disillusioned with the move away from an mmo and into a solo action adventure lobby game. And millions of players have pressed blizzard for years that features like LFD have destroyed the game.

No LFD requires you to speak with other people to build a group. If you want to actually efficiently get consistent and good groups, you have to go out of your way to make friends and social connections outside your guild. You have an incentive to group while leveling and be social, to add people to yours friends, etc. because building a roster of connections makes it easier to get groups. Players have an incentive to not be toxic or doing deliberately dumb things in the dungeon to troll, etc. because they can end up blacklisted. If you don’t want the forced socialization aspect of old WoW, you should be playing retail or other fake MMOs like FF14 that cater to your preference game genre.

In LFD, you are queueing with complete randoms who you never had to speak a word to or ever met in the open world or the game. They may as well be glorified bots, they never speak a word and there is zero social repercussions for anything they do because they will just queue for the next dungeon. The social connects you were incentivized to build with no LFD is lost and reduces the game down to a solo lobby. This indirectly disincentivizes making friends/grouping when questing or doing things in the open world too, since a major incentive for making connections is lost. You no longer need those connections outside your guild to raid for the week.

The target audience of classic isn’t happy about CRBGs, they are content. WoW is a PvE based game so they overlooked this mistake for PvP. And now the servers are so bad now it’s unfortunately impossible to course correct unless blizzard does something drastic with servers.

Do you have a source for this? How do you know it was specifically things like LFD?

Personally, I wanted Classic because I wanted a return to the roots of the game. I wanted to enjoy a more simple world, and yes to enjoy a world where other players are actually in it. I wanted to go back to a time where the power of an item was known and there wasn’t a constant grind hoping for a high roll on a desired item.

And now that we’re past that and the community overall has lost the quality it had in early Classic, I’m ready to play Wrath as it was - it’s a shift in how the game was played that existed back then, and nothing Blizzard does is going to change that happening again, even with artificially holding players back.

“inv” and scanning LFG isn’t that much more socializing than LFD.

Not that many people care that much about blood elves. There is a contingent who care about paladins/shamans being on both factions, but not really that many about blood elves. They don’t affect the gameplay or the social elements of the game in anyway really so they aren’t really worth getting that worked up over.

And the amount of people who don’t like LFD and wanted it out are also, “not that many”.

The pro LFD section is a very tiny section of the community. It’s a vocal minority, a big portion of which plays retail and pays blizzard anyway. The target audience who wanted classic don’t want LFD, they are the new and returned lost customers that the classic project is intended to cater to and would quit if LFD touched the game.

The amount of people who don’t want LFD are the overwhelming majority of the target audience. Pro LFD people are a tiny vocal minority, a lot of which play retail and are therefore paying blizzard no matter what anyway.

The target audience for classic is players who played back in the day, and players back in the day were by and large very happy with CRBG’s. Just like they were with LFD.

Blizzard is just horribly out of touch with their own player base.

The target audience of classic WoW is the audience that have told blizzard for years that cross realm and automated features have ruined the game. CRBGs were a huge error, and LFD would cause masses to quit. Close to none of the target audience is happy with CRBGs and LFD

Because people just finished vanilla and had no new content to look forward to. Nobody wants to be on a static state realm permanently on naxx forever. Most classic players enjoy TBC even if they had gripes with flying, so it was logical to continue to the next round of content.
