I doubt anything Blizz will come up with will explain 20 years of storyline before a newbie hit’s max level unless they sit thru some video at the start showing everything up to the current xpac.
I know it will be nearly impossible to make a summary of 20-year-old stories in game but, blizz came up with Exile’s Reach, a random island that introduces new players to mechanics and gameplay, I think we can get something similar for the story like small quests/ scenarios while leveling that introduces, key characters or events of WoW’s past, so we can get an idea of what’s going on and make new players feel like they are in an adventure not in a treadmill with random characters that in the next expansions are not even mentioned.
I guess the best way atm is the option to show low level quests so if newbies want to go back and experience older content they can.
The cynic in me expects something like that to be released with the last patch of WoW before they close it down.
Its just not the story/lore, its the other players, aka us.
Some new player gets to SW/Org and sees a multitude of wacky mounts and outfits all running this way and that.
The portal house having portals out the wazoo going everywhere.
pls just let chromie be unlocked for everyone at all lvls. so sick of bein forced into bad expacs. just lvl sync me down like in xiv. df i get locked out 95% of the games dungeon content after a certain lvl loll
still doesn’t solve the problem of frustration from new players not knowing what’s going on.
I have been asking for that since…, actually Cata. Immediately after the first forum upgrade and wipe, I made a post asking for it and for a while, it was the highest upvoted post. As WoW has changed, I have changed what I ask for. This is my most recent one.
well, that’s the nature of an MMo, to see other ppl feats a mounts and transmogs and aspire to someday get them. And yeah 20 years of mounts, transmogs, cosmetics, and sadly the in-game shop, added to the wackiness and wazoo everywhere… However, neither helps, being called champion of Azeroth, at level 10 as soon as we finish the introductory island, just to skip BFA and Shadowlands in a breeze, then being sent to the Dragon Isles without any reason, is a mess for new players and leads to frustration and takes away the desire to invest in this fictional world.
What you are describing is returning events that took place during expansions into scenarios. These have always been removed. Prior to Classic becoming a mostly competitive game mode I thought it would be great to turn old expansions into evergreen entertainment for all levels. Blizzard went the esports route. They’d rather lose a lot of players who are bored because they aren’t interested in 3 pillar content than risk a handful of competitive players taking a break from their endless grind to spend a few hours chilling in old content.
Well, is a 20 y/o MMo, and for better or worst it has its own fictional world, and beloved characters. It has nothing to do with competitive players if you are one, we are already invested, or we have been playing this game long enough. This is like an idea for getting a better introduction of the world, for new players.
World Soul Saga and TWW can be the perfect opportunity to bring new, fresh and returning people in, reviving some key old storylines and using some of the old world giving us some key background and context. Can be a starter timewalking campaign from 10-60, can be scenarios, can be delves, can be quests, can be a codex journal, or even a Nobbel video pasted in the caverns of time, something in-game that guide us through the story so far. Not jumping between expansions, also BFA is 6-7 years old at this point.
