Leveling a fresh alt in TWW feels vile

This thread is breaking my brain. Literally just do the Dragonflight story stuff and you will get gear.

You level in BFA, then go DF. When I say go DF, I mean unlock the World content then do it for easy loot, you do this while queuing for dungeons.

Your guy’s problem is you didn’t play the end of DF events, aka the memory event that gave 480 loot. If you’re just now getting into the game and missed literally all the catch up stuff, you need to play the game like an MMO, just like the rest of us, that means doing the world event.

Don’t be scared to go back to DF and search through the quartermasters for rep gear or DF world bosses. and/or spam DF dungeons.

this is world of warcraft… of course they didnt read.

Just take the scroll to Silithus from the quest that pops up and select to skip the intro. You then take the teleporter to the new continent and can start questing anywhere (once selected on the map).

To OP, start putting BoE gear that drops on your main into your warband bank. My hunter started 70+ with a bunch of 500+ ilvl gear.

Plus you can literally go to any of the rep vendors in DF and just buy gear with resources. It may not be season 4 ilevels but is infinitely better than being 200 ilevels down. DF has so many different ways to get caught up before jumping into TWW that require almost no/very little time investment that it’s not even funny.

Even just the season 4 quest gear in Emerald Dream are like 415 and the first quest rewards in TWW are like 408 so a cheap workaround would be to quest there for an hour and clean up all the slots that are super low. I took my season 2 geared evoker straight to Dorn and just quested up some gear. It wasn’t pleasant though, so any other old terrible geared characters will likely grab a handful of Emerald Dream quest rewards first.

in retail you learn that people in general DO NOT READ EVER.

… but … my box said “World of Readcraft”?

You’ll hate your life while you’re doing it. Imagine a TikTok challenge where you bang your head for 3 weeks.

One leveled 2 alts so far and one loved it. Not one shoting everything and actually using my abilities is more fun. I’m 76 on my rogue and i didn’t get a new weapon until a level ago and before that i was using one from DF (ilvl 270) that was not great. Was nice to earn that damage boost! It was so doable before. It helped me learn my class better when i had to put a bit of effort into killing mobs.

My first alt through was rough until I hit 71. At 71, you unlock hero talents, and you’ll have gotten a bunch of quest gear. I came in at level 68, so I was on the struggle bus for an hour or so.

The good part is that gathering, bonus objectives, and the Dorn WQ’s give a metric truck load of XP. You get over that power deficit pretty quickly.

I didn’t buy any new gear for my mage alt off of the AH. I used quest upgrades and her tailoring crafted gear that I made myself. Honestly…the power dip was much better by level 71.

Blizzard bankin on them casuals to pony up 2 tokens for gear.

How were you 200ilvls below the content??

This would fix so many of the issues, yeah.

I actually have no idea what I did wrong while leveling

By the time the gear was higher ilvl than my boas I got a single trinket as a quest reward, didn’t get any pants/boots/rings/etc

The only higher item level stuff I had was like a helmet gloves and bracers

I had to have somehow only did the quests that give no gear or something

Yeah it sucks. They nerfed leveling just because a few high end players were killing things “too fast” with all of they endgame DF gear. Now that that doesn’t matter anymore, everyone else gets to suffer leveling alts and new players. Yet another shortsighted decision in a very long list of shortsighted blizz decisions.

330 is about 80 item levels below what it should be.

What ilvl?

You may be better off gearing at 70 in DF because you can get ilvl 450-480 gear, which you won’t get from TWW until 75 or so. And honestly it’s not that hard.

Also, it seems Evoker is one the weaker classes right now.

why else do you think gold exists?
