This is a good point. How long is long enough? World Buffs being a consistent 2hrs would be an easy solution.
However, i’d advocate for no world buffs. I do recognize that world buffs add decent value to going into the overworld though.
PvP servers always have people in the world just for the sake of griefing each other. You don’t need world buffs to incentivize that.

You’re not wrong here. But I’m leaning more towards “the overworld has value”, less about PVP. Like, the act of going to get a songflower is “good” for exploration.
It’s not. It’s a chore.
Take away Songflower and nothing fundamentally changes about the zone. People still explore Felwood for tubers and night dragons…
You are not considering the fact that “people on the forums” is a small minority of Classic players.
People that come here and make comments are a very small fraction of people that make up the community.
I’m sorry, but the amount of comments I’ve seen you make about stuff like this cracks me up. Who actually hates world buffs? Just don’t get them! Go raid without them, most pugs don’t even require them until Naxx.
Removing WBs is just another thing that ruined Classic and turned the game into retail. I love retail, but it lacks unique MMORPG mechanics that only existed in Vanilla WoW. Like paying a Hunter for their services after guiding you to the end of Dire Maul to collect the three buffs.
It also affects everyone. Going to Org when Rend drops while you’re leveling is badass. You can go out and do that elite quest you’ve been struggling with or blast a difficult dungeon with your buffed up friends.
Yeah, it’s really a chore. Pay a Warlock 5g, collect your buff and hearth home. Same for DMT. Boon your buffs and you’re set for the week.
Forums, in game, whatever, you name it. It’s not fun to have your character’s power completely dependent on one time buffs. That is not a controversial statement.
It also makes balancing raids and classes impossible when those buffs are allowed because they are SO MUCH STRONGER than your gear.
SoM raiding was the best classic raiding has been. Unfortunately, few got the chance to see it.
Okay, do that for every single buff, every single week. It’s not as simple as just summoning in and getting DMF. Ony/Rend/ZG buffs are also limited - they don’t always drop when it’s convenient for you to log on to the game.
And where are you getting gold to pay for summons? Are you farming this gold, in addition to your consumables, every single week?

Everything is a chore, unironically. (I come from Mythic Raiding, I know the struggle of doing annoying things that make you miserable now for the sake of having fun later.)
With that said, it’s because I personally feel “parse culture” on Classic is pointless. Sorta like being the fastest 5th grader at the elementary school. It’s mostly why I don’t want to bother playing like the folks in polar (I’m on Crusader Strike), it’s just a lot of chores I really don’t care to do because the reward itself doesn’t align with my interests.
At the same time, some people put value in it. And I think taking away that value is not a good solution. That’s all. (That’s why I’d advocate to make world buffs persist through death, because one wipe/death ruins their fun for the week – too harsh for my tastes.)
Funny you use polar as an example - they were world first to clear both AQ40 and Naxx in SoM. That was the season that did not allow world buffs in raids.
Classic players literally do not care. They like Classic WoW. World buffs are not essential to that experience.

I’m not a healer, but cool set. Best I’ve seen requires dropping arcanums for FR, ring replacement, and a few downgraded bits to reach 226 without totem/aura. Not really my point though. A gearset being BiS because it lets you do the pass/fail gear mechanic is alright I guess for like, one piece of gear (Like ony cloak on Nef) but it’s not great, and that’s really the only instance of it in original WoW, probably because it’s a stupid mechanic.
Full BiS should be the gear that gives you the best throughput for your class/spec. Chromatic flask instead of supreme power is a 0 IQ move anyways, replace the cloak for an extra 20 FR instead and save yourself 100sp. I guess that’s what happens when you look at Wowhead though.
Its a challenge mode. Stop whining.
I don’t think asking for the gear from the raid to be sufficient enough to pass the soft FR check by itself is asking for a lot.
Are you really that poor that you can’t afford summons? No, I don’t farm. I have about 2k gold just sitting around I have no use for because SoD gold isn’t worth much.
Umm, Rend/Ony you just sit in Stormwind in the evening, turn your sound on and go do something else, 99% of the time “Ony head dropping in 10” in /1
What else is there to do in Classic? There’s 3 hours of content per week between 1 raid and a mini raid. Go get your buffs and have fun in the raids.
SoD gold isn’t worth much? Did you skip the dungeon 2 set? Did you skip buying fire resist gear & enchants? Did you skip all of the upgraded crafted items that came with SoD?
All I’m hearing is that you buy gold and you’re terminally online. Glad you’re enjoying that, I guess.

Dungeon set 2 is completely useless, I’m sure most people didn’t know that when they spent weeks farming 0.5 but it currently has no purpose outside of farming Heat 1. Heat 1 is a joke and you can easily walk in with T0 and work to T1. T1 has adequate FR for Heat 2.
You don’t need to really spend all that much money to farm MC. Heat 2 is the sweet spot, all that overpriced FR gear will be worthless come BWL.
I got my 4-set T1 and weapon from just farming Heat 2, which doesn’t require the crafted gear set. Ony drops all tier now and doesn’t need FR.
Farming Heat 3 is pointless imo, we will be in MC until what? November? It’s week 2 and people are starting to get decked out. It’ll be alt pugs and speedruns.
SoM died because of bad timing and not enough changes. Changing MC was never going to save it. Class changes is the only reason SoD had any success, along with the experimental and promising nature of whatever they were teasing.

Demon Fall Canyon is actually amazing. The fact it only took a week or two to make and was originally just going to be a rune quest is crazy.
