Level 60 "BUY NOW!" popups

People who play twink characters, aren’t really people…

It wasn’t this obnoxious before, they are really pressing on the new content, without realizing most people play WoW for the legacy stuff (or RP) if they aren’t engaging in the endgame.

(Now that I think about it, is PvP content also considered ‘legacy’ content? Like an old raid or dungeon? Those maps are all pretty old, and we haven’t received a new battleground in a while…)

I remember I didn’t buy Legion as it came out, and only saw an ad to upgrade on the character screen, but not in-game (outside of the shop, obviously).

but surely you will buy dragonfarts now.

I accept WoW Tokens, yes.

You know what’s funny? I use adblockers and NEVER ever see ads when I use the internet.

If the site won’t let me see stuff until I disable the adblocker, I just don’t use that site.

Pretty simple.

I pay a sub for this game, I don’t want ads. This isn’t a FREE weekend, this is a “oh you have a sub but don’t have DF” spam, which is crap.

Totally agree with the OP, even though I have DF, still think that is bad business practice.

My brother almost didn’t get DF due to this. For the free weekend we quested for 1-1.5 hours, and he kept telling me it was popping up.

It’s dumb, but clearly whoever is in charge of this campaign doesn’t care.

It’s a reflection of the fact that Blizzard has no idea how the target demographic for this offer plays the game. You see a popup every time you login, hearth or use a portal. Often when you change zones.

And if you’re one of many players who is spamming old instances, you see it every time you enter and every time you leave. I easily squinted to click that over 100 times last time the free trial was offered. I don’t know why you would think that level of spam should increase the likelihood of someone buying the expansion. Maybe you’re the employee who designed the popup?

Thanks so much!

The greater majority of players who play retail are going to be playing the current expansion. Players like yourself who don’t buy current expansions, but still play retail, are easily the minority and make up only a small fraction of the player-base.

I am one of the players they designed this offer for. To intentionally design it to be annoying would have been counterproductive. Why is it you think they should create a marketing offer and design it to alienate those who it is supposed to appeal to?

A game that youy paid a box price for, and that you pay a subscription for… and a game which has a cash shop too.

ok thanks friend.

yet here you are, paying for the game, its sub, and store cosmetics. lollolol

disabling a trade-able item is robbery when it was never intended to be soulbound on purchase. not sure why youre trying to gobble their balls over this? just admit they made a mistake and stop trying to defend bad game design/bugs that should be fixed in the ptr.

Indeed! But I did it before I was bombarded with ads.

Also, I can still point out the idiocy of it. I also bought the expansion, unlike Shadowlands, to show support for blizzard’s current direction in terms of developement, though they really have to step it up a bit more in the future, it is not going to be easy to retain people who are still skeptical if they do not.

their record profits show otherwise. they can have a smaller playerbase and still make more than theyve ever made in the games life with smart mtx sales and incentives to continue a sub. theyve done a great job with the 6 month sub, trader tenders, and now bringing tcgs back for free.

if none of this is appealing to you, speak with your wallet and time and move on.

Thing is though.

They need to make MORE than last year, that is the whole point and why microtransactions is a dangerous business to get into.

Profits should increase year after year, not decrease. This will always happen eventually, the ceiling will be reached. But microtransactions just jumpstart it and sends it to the roof nigh-immediately.

It does well, but it does not do as well as last year, and then the investors gets mad, they pull out.

What I wanted to do, was buy it, say: “Yes, more of this, I want this” and now I am saying I want even like this. It is sorely needed if blizzard wants to retain a playerbase that keeps their profit margins rising.
