Except in season 4 of SL where it was considered S tier. And currently where survival hunter is currently a really good melee pick in PVP because of mending bandage counteracting a lot of the bleed-based going on right now.

This doesn’t make the core idea good.

Survival has been a really good pick in PvP for several expansions, as well as a decent pick in PvE. The fact that this is the case and it’s still extremely unpopular should tell you that there’s a deeper problem with the spec’s design.

If anything survival is only hybrid melee. Most of the time surv does not stick in melee, it uses its ranged dots and pet to deal damage from range and jumps in for the kill when necessary.

Then it shouldn’t be too much of a problem to make it fully ranged.

None of that, though, has anything to do with the fantasy of a melee hunter spec. Which was the original point being made.

Yes, so why bring it up and why continue to talk exclusively about tuning even after saying this?

SV would be better if every other hunter can’t also be melee just by staying in melee while shooting.

This is actually true, but it should also come with the disclaimer that they definitely shouldn’t do this.
