Why is it dark?

I do all the artwork and formatting myself too. I get some help with editing(mostly a 2nd pair of eyes from a friend to catch things I don’t), but otherwise I do everything except the printing and binding. My decision to self publish was mostly for the sake of having absolute control over the cover art, since I’m very picky about how the characters and creatures look.

Most of my marketing has been local/word of mouth. Haven’t really tried that much online aside from the occasional plug, but I prefer honesty over trying to flatter and people-please on social media.

I just now, in the last few days, started advertising my services as an artist online. Recently finished a NE DH for my very first customer… who is really happy about the result and made me more confident in my professionality.
I was not expecting so many people to want their OCs illustrated but I am pleasantly surprised and working into shifting my format to best fit the market. I am currently setting up various ways to reach me via different social media and platforms.
It is very exciting but also very frightening at the same time.

Some people (like me) buy art of our OCs all the time. I do it A LOT (some would say it’s an impulse control issue )

Aw thanks so much, that’s super kind of you! Made me smile Yeah it’s super tough, and self-publishing is even more tough with marketing. Getting out there, and all; but it’s worth it! People generally have rated my writing pretty positively too, which is a huge plus. It’s what keeps me going, along with the passion for it.
What helped me, ironically, was roleplaying for so many years! It’s kinda like writing a book but with a ton of other people.

I had promised my mother that I’d eventually get something published (granted I count Amazon as self publishing, but technically, it still counts).
Unfortunately, I’ve had writer’s block for years now. Not for lack of ideas. Those I’ve got. It’s the remembering to write them down cause I’m at work and forget it by the time I get home part that’s the prob. Sadly, I can’t stop what I’m doing to jot it down.
I need one of those little black pills from American Horror Story without the side effects and without risk of becoming a Pale.

Get a small journal with a pencil, fill with ideas and concepts… weaponize your creativity

Amazon has a new thing called Kindle Vella. Looks like this might make me TRY to get creative again.
It’s basically a write a chapter a week/every couple of months kind of thing (and earn whatever Amazon Coins are- probably some form of crypto).

Bought your novel on Amazon, you write very well, you should continue. That first story scared the s**t out of me, kinda hit too close to home.
Working on The Book Of Witches, think I am on chapter 7, liking it so far.
Update: Just finished Book Of Witches, loved it, the way it was written you almost feel like it could have really happened!
