Let's Talk About Improving Wrath

I’ve never understood hating flying, it’s awesome.

Pathfinder for gatekeeping flying is the worst thing Ion ever thought of. If your world is interesting people will explore it after they can fly.

So far, only Shadowlands is the only xpac I can’t drum up enough interest to explore.

Worthless sentiment. Not flying myself does not come even close to solving any of the problems flying has created. That’s like saying not to fast travel in a game where fast travel is available. That would be completely foolish unless there was an option to actually disable fast travel for everyone that’s playing the game.

The problem is not myself flying. The problem is the fact that anyone can fly. The point is to cultivate a world with greater player interaction and no ability to fly away from PvP. If you don’t world PvP then you have no means of understanding why many people don’t want flying.

Also please do away with your false pretense that I’m the only one in the world who doesn’t want flying. Its completely dishonest. Half of the player base doesn’t want flying.

And again, if you don’t like no flying realms then don’t go there. And if no-flying is so unpopular, as you suggest, then no one will go these realms and the realms will become unpopulated and Blizzard will never try it again. But the fact that you’re so scared of no-flying realms becoming a thing points out that we both know that no-flying realms would be successful. If they won’t be then there’s no problem for you is there?

It’s antithetical to the MMO genre. It drastically reduces player interaction outside of instances. MMO player interaction should not be reduced to instances only. It also drastically reduces world PvP. Furthermore it turns the over-world from a world you’re supposed to interact with and navigate in an MMO to merely an obstacle for you to get around so you can quickly get to whatever quest/npc/mats gathering node you want to get to. No need to follow roads, find shortcuts, avoid hostile mobs or plan… just fly straight from point A to point B.

The only reason this hasn’t destroyed wow is because Blizzard moved their focus to prioritizing instanced gameplay rather than over-world gameplay. Now the over-world is essentially relegated to nothing but leveling and gathering for 90% of players. Classic WoW is not this way and would greatly benefit from no-flying.

Also it would be nice if everyone stopped tunnel-visioning on the no-flying realms part. I had several other suggestions for people to discuss and yet everyone wants to focus on the no-flying part.

Oh I see.
You’re pro-gatekeeping.

If the option to fly was in the expansion, I feel it should remain. Sometimes I enjoy riding that bear mount you get from the Hyldnir. Ground travel and flight coexist fine in Wrath.

If your point in making this comment was to demonstrate how poor you are at reading comprehension then your comment was a wild success.

That isn’t even close to what I said.

Try reading my comment again but slowly this time and then come back.

So you are attempting to stop or limit that.
Sounds like that term suits your behavior.

So by your logic if I want to stop people from botting or real-world trading I’m a gatekeeper. Or if I want to stop people from multiboxxing or using cookie cutter builds or players switching to realms where their faction vastly outnumbers the opposing faction I would be gatekeeping… Do you see the problem with your statement yet?

Wanting to make the game better for everyone isn’t gatekeeping. Maybe you just like throwing around buzzwords that don’t apply in order to make your argument look better than it is.

L O L

Ain’t nobody reading that, friend.

uh did you miss how this is supposed to be classic, sweetie

Again, lol.

that’s the problem. retail devs can’t make a world that’s interesting

If you can’t get people to play with you, that’s a you thing, not something that will be fixed by forcing them to walk around you frequently.

Did you miss how it’s no longer classic and how we have tons of changes already?

I’m sorry that you’re illiterate.

And another person who has trouble reading. That isn’t even close to what I said.

None of this has anything to do with your stated issue of preventing flying/fast travel. We are discussing that and you are, for this issue, gatekeeping. I am not in this thread covering those other issues with you.

Make other threads to discuss responses to the other issues or don’t confuse conversations you’ve had with other posters with my responses.

“I know those aren’t gatekeeping but I’m gonna pretend they are and say that that’s off-topic so I don’t look bad” Amazing. Where did you learn to deflect this well? Like I honestly cannot imagine how you possibly came up with this response, typed it and though “that looks good I’ll submit this comment”

And it’s not off-topic because its called an example. An example of how your “argument” is complete nonsense. Wanting to prevent player behavior that is bad for the health of the game is not “gatekeeping”. You clearly don’t know what that term means and you should stop using it.

Okay. Good luck with your seething. Flying isn’t going anywhere. Your attempts to change that will be unsucessful.

Enjoy your ground mounts and travels. Those of us that wish to fly and enjoy the game from that perspective will do the same.

No one is seething but you buddy :^)

People telling you that its pointless to try is usually a good sign to keep on trying.
