Here’s the rub. Chances are anything you come up with in RP will be more coherent and better quality than the official Blizzard material. So as long as you don’t aim to hurt or wierd out others you’re good to go. Have fun RPing, my dude.

I RP’d a dragon once, and went this route, mostly because the world is full of dragon-slaying murder hobos looking for one more hit of phat lewt and they didn’t want to be mistaken for another pinata.
Funny thing is, I tried to give subtle clues they were a dragon.
A blue dragon, they’d never assumed a mortal form before (they could but never saw the need), and with the blue flight all but gone, decided to assume a mortal form just to hide among the murder hobos and hope they’d keep other murder hobos and big bad threats from killing them. Thing was, they’d never used a mortal form before.
They had absolutely no idea how to use their hands like mortals did.
Asked to sign their name to a parchment, or eat with a knife and fork? They’d just stare for a few moments before playing into the haughty mage trope, waving a hand, and conjuring quill and ink and having it write for them. It was the same for clothes, not knowing how to dress themselves, so they wore the same thing all the time and kept magically cleaning it and never taking any of it off, which got weird around certain occasions like weddings or funerals, but again, they played off the haughty mage act.
It was a lot of fun and no one I RP’d with ever caught on, which was hilarious. Any Dragon related stuff came up in our RP my character would duck out of anything that’d rely on interacting with actual dragons.
Anyways, to address the OP, I don’t think there is anything wrong in RP’ing a Dragon. You just need to find the right community to embrace it. If you want to be open about being a dragon, maybe start a guild for dragon RP’ers. It’s not like every Dragon is aspect levels of powerful, after all.

My dragon is a troll with the same amount of fingers, so I think it wouldn’t be too much of an adjustment? That said they do kind of always wear the same white robe-…in the middle of the dessert where it could get dirty…
Can I possibly borrow that idea?
Side note: Is “Murder hobos” An official term that I haven’t heard about?
I’m starting to think it is.

What Maxi said. It kind of jokes about how we the players will kill anything/anyone for 37 gold and a green item, but we’re also homeless (no housing system). Ergo, Murder Hobos.

I agree with a lot of what was said above. There are a few guides on RPing dragons and other unique characters, but ultimately it’s important for you to RP what you want and to explore fun and unique pieces of the game lore that you like best.
