Yeah it’s understandable if you like older models better. I disagree but it is indeed your opinion there.

You know what they did to the black battle tank (rare for only those that banged the gong)? They gave the updated model as a mount to the people that have it. But it counted as a free mount. Now… If they did that to every single mount they updated, it might double collections and make the quantity achievements pointless.
A toggle like he mentioned however sounds like a good idea. I don’t know how they’d do it… Maybe a… Mount glyph? You know? Something they apply to that mount spell to make it the old model? Hmm. Could work for pets too.
I agree, giving people new and old models would be crazy, but give them an option to update their models if they want to replace the old ones.
I think it depends on what they did with the old code for the old models. If they deleted and replaced it, then they would have to recreate everything like with classic servers.
But if they created a new set and backed up the old ones, I dont see why they can’t make a toggle for it.
(This is coming from someone with zero coding experience if a real coder or IT guy comes in here and schools me I’m fine with it)
Toggles, duplicate art assets, and diverging code sounds like a nightmare to maintain. We can see the problems this caused with the “Old Character Model” toggle that used to work but breaks current animations.
The debate about old mount models vs new does bring up an interesting point about preserving the past, but also looking toward the future. I know that in a perfect world everyone would have what they prefer, but I doubt blizz would put in the extra effort sadly.
I guess in light of that I would want the old ones preserved for the people who like the old models and hate the new ones. Shame about the hip dysplasia though. I did kind of see one of those new models and it makes me wonder who looks at reddish leg guards mixed with golden armor with other colors mixed and says “dang, that looks so awesome!” It goes back to the clown suit idea from some armor sets. Don’t pat yourself on the back, art guys.
Fal, I am super excited for the new storm drake as well so I’m really happy to know I’m not the only one. It’s not the Vethir look alike that I begged for, but so much better than the pink and no guady armor! I hope that model becomes popular enough like the moose that they sprinkle a few more colors in as time goes on (ahemlightbluewithlightningeffectswouldbegreatstillahem).

I’m as interested in the animations as the skins. I absolutely love the look of the Alabaster Hyena, but what makes him my go-to is the animation. No matter where we go, how near or far, how important or inconsequential, he’s on 11.
