I cant be the only one who wants soothing mist’s either pruned or reverted back to channeling AFTER casts. I feel like casting spells via soothing mists is very boring and unexciting. Am I the only one that enjoyed the days of casting? If you need an emergency heal TFT Ev. If we were modified to allow for us to once again cast and still perform to the same caliber I feel it would make MW feel much more rewarding.
Thoughts?
Personally I think MWer is one of the more interesting playstyles in the game. Casting through channeling soothing mist is pretty innovative in IMO. No other class has a playstyle like theirs.
Granted it’s pretty boring in arena where oyu just AFK @ the pillar cause you bring almost no utility outside of your once a min stun but I think Mistweaver is in an amazing place and feels super fun to play.

I really like the current version myself. I find it interesting being able to instant cast spells on top on channeling thus making us the gods of single target healing.
That said, I liked the last version too and wouldn’t be too sad if it was reverted to its previous state.
I would however be pretty upset if it just became a lame channel without some kind of interesting hook.

Completely disagree. Legion MW was a lame abomination that was nothing more than a hodge-podge of other healers spells mixed together. The Legion version of SM only existed to try and pretend like they hadn’t completely gutted the original MW identity. We didn’t need another generic healer that mostly used generic cast-time spells. There were plenty of other healer specs that already did that to play if that’s what you wanted.
Oldschool MW had an actually unique identity and playstyle compared to other healers and soothing mist and its mechanics were a part of that.
They should keep it the way it is and bring back chi and the original mana tea which actually made the MW a unique healing spec.

I think you hit it right on the head for me. sitting on the pillar and once a minute being relevant
and even with Way of the crane coming back in SL, I am trying to see if that will bring back the excitement
I feel like the Legion implementation of Soothing Mist was largely irrelevant to pve, simply because it broke so easily and had to have another cast in order to retarget. If it ever got to the point that holding Soothing on someone was useful then adding damage tended to be more desirable.

Soothing mist feels more like a talent pick than a core ability. It has its uses here and there, but the times when you AREN’T spam healing into one target is far far greater than the times when you are. If soothing mist had a 1 or 2 second cooldown but was off GCD then it’s just free power to be utilized by the spec and that’s fine (but becomes a bit burdensome when that means you’ll want to use it before every vivify or EnvM you ever cast) but it might be more interesting if it had a CD equal to it’s full channel duration (affected by haste) and was off GCD.
You are. If we’re reverting to old healing styles I rather see the old uplift and the ball pit from MoP
I prefer the old chi/uplift build to what we have today.
As I remember it, the biggest problems back then were 1) the mastery was weak, 2) orbs were prone to spawn in places where they would be wasted, and 3) dungeon group healing was a challenge.
As I reflect on current Mistweaver challenges, things have only gotten worse.
I’ll give the pre-expansion a shot to see how the MW feels. I really don’t want to give up on the healing spec I’ve loved since MoP, but I cannot abide by the current iteration.
Soothing mist might be near useless (in pve anyway), but it has its niche
It’s also better for it to remain an active, restoring the legion version will just gimp the spec by forcing awful mana costs due to a theoritical “infinite hpm” value for having a 5 minute soothing mist channel after every spell cast.
