I am 99% sure they are looking at numbers gauging the success of various features and The Mall is under it’s target number. So they are looking to up playtime via annoying gimmicks like this.
I believe the logic is that it would be fiscal malfeasance to just shut down so they are forced to keep an ever downward spiral of garbage content and lost subscribers to justify closing it down.
Collect the Animacones WQ in Ardenweld was like this when I did it last night. Somewhat annoying with the several players that were there besides myself and had it been more crowded it would have been next to impossible.
As much as those things can be annoying, Classic but mostly TBC, is just the more enjoyable experience over retail. What fun is it to not have class sets? Everybody dresses the same, looks the same, there is nothing to work towards.
Maybe that is just me but I thoroughly enjoyed chasing my class set. I enjoyed when professions mattered. When the world felt alive and not a waiting lobby to play with other servers. I enjoyed the community feel. Yeah, retail will never be that again. Luckily some of us have TBC coming.
Furthermore, as the Jailer continues to gain strength all mounts living, mechanical, carpet, etc. will now refuse your call game wide. He has also crippled mages ability to create and sustain portals. No more portals anywhere! Don’t ask why, we don’t care. Get good scrubs. GG.
There was a time I would have assumed positive intent… but the fact that this, the changes to pulls in several dungeons to make them harder and the covenant locks on previously unlocked things were all unannounced changes has wiped away any lingering assumption.
Guess I picked the wrong time to start playing SL. It sounds like the 5th amendment scene in Harold and Kumar 2, except fun is doing the wiping this time.
Apparently FF14 is right on their heels now. Lets see in a few months when all those 6 month subs start running out where the two games stand compared to each other. Who knows, maybe Blizz will pull a magic rabbit out of a hat and surprise us all.
