At this rate, not being a butthole is being woke.
You are wrong if you think this is a “woke” ideology issue. WoW players are a very diverse community in terms of age, political and personal beliefs, nationality, religion etc.
What is being interpreted as a mass reaction to the lawsuit, is actually the straw that broke the camel’s back. After years and several expansions where the player base were disappointed by the lack of communication and arrogance of the dev team and the increasing toxicity and offensive behavior that is currently tolerated in game, apparently a lot of people reached their boiling point.
Of course, complete lack of creativity, repetition of the same concepts throughout expansions and (again) arrogance of the dev team that often, were not even keeping up appearances, didn’t help.
Funny how people claim to be “woke” and yet they follow each other like a herd of sheep or cows and refuse to think for themselves.
Hey now let them cosplay in peace. No matter how strange it is lol.
Thanks, saved me typing it out… well i did just type something out, guess… ok, ungh
Going from this post, the best thing Blizzard could do is shoot these forums into space to never been seen again.
LMAO this coming from a man that has never step into any raid or done any form of meaningful endgame content outside of leveling. Please you lack the understanding and the depth to talk about this game or it’s systems.
This coming from a person that’s gotta login into another character, which that character still hasn’t done any meaningful content and has to likes his own message, okay bucko.
Why don’t you go play the game instead of trying to prove how out of depth you are when it comes to these topics.
Yeah, you got me lmao eye roll
What’s meaningful content?
BTW, I don’t know if you thought that was me or not, but it ain’t
Wow so you necro a 2 month old thread to say something that literally has less than zero to do with what was being discussed?
There’s been no sexual assault at Blizzard. Literally none. Where did you read this? It’s not in the complaint or in the state of California’s lawsuit.
Why did you log on to all your own characters to like your own post? Twice.
Some here apparently have an issue with separating reality from fiction.
Reality: There was misconduct at Activision/Blizzard and HR dropped the ball on its responsibilities in a flagrant and long term way.
Fiction: Anything in the game has absolutely anything to do with what happened in Real Life.
The later is just more Blizzard arrogance in thinking that their payers…I mean Players…will not react to it.
The problem is now that all these “woke” people you are referring to are the new hires/employees of Blizzard…Sorry, but it’s here to stay.
They don’t put out playable content and it will be “new hires/employees at the former company knowns as Blizzard”
The very real argument could be made by Activision that the culture is so toxic and the profit margins are getting so small at Blizzard that it would be just better for the whole to axe the entire thing.
Hope those devs like working on Call of Duty…if they are kept.
What crimes were committed in game?
You mean other than the writing teams lore crimes?
As someone is is not “stereotypically woke”, I agree 100%. But the question must be asked:
How do in-game changes (changing a classical reclining semi nude portrait into a bowl of fruit i.e. denying women their right to outwardly express themselves) reflect any meaningful corporate changes?
The answer is, it doesn’t.
In fact, I’d argue exactly the opposite: that what is now considered “woke” is not only extremely oppressive but, in many cases mysogistic and racist.
The above example should be clear. But here’s where it gets worse. In the first painting that was changed, the subject is displaying a haughty, commanding presence. She is, not only displaying her femininity, but regarding those who look at the painting as lesser mortals, as if she knows what they want but is directly telling the viewer, “you cannot, and never will have this.” That is empowerment: deciding who can and cannot be in your circle. The way it was changed, tells a different story.
The new painting not only emphasizes her cleavage by changing a flesh colored shirt to a bustier, but her demeanor changes as well; a pouty lipped, almost submissive look. As if to say, “Please ogle me as an object of desire. I am approachable and usable.”
The changes to the painting only appease one group: the male feminist who wants nothing more than to tell women how and what to be, because a normal woman would look at the effeminete male feminist and know them for what they are: predators trying to mask their intention.
Secondly, there’s the changing of the achievement “Bros before Ho ho hos”. The word “ho” is a shortening of the word “w***e” which originated in Urban African American dialects. By determining the usage of the word “ho” is somehow offensive and must therefore be removed, is racist because a largely white corporation is determining that the usage of the word “ho” is not appropriate; by removing references to Urban African American dialect, Blizzard and it’s largely caucasian staff are white washing African American historical culture.
So to even infer these changes represent anything positive is a rather egregiously stupid statement without first understanding the intent and origin of the original peices.
